Grotesquerie Season 1 references Ed Gein, the subject of Ryan Murphy’s Monster Season 3
Monster Season 3 will be about one of the most horrifying serial killers
In 2022, Ryan Murphy brought MonsterA biographical crime drama anthology series that will cover the lives and crimes of infamous “monstrous figures”. season 1, The story of Jeffrey DahmerWas released on Netflix in 2022 to great success with the audience (but mixed reactions from critics), although it is not safe from controversies due to its themes. season 2, The story of Lila and Eric Mendezwas released on September 19, 2024, a week earlier Grotesqueries premiere. Monster will get a third season, and it was revealed this month that it will focus on Ed Gein, played by Charlie Hunnam.
Although unrelated, Grotesquerie already set up Monster Season 3 with a reference to Ed Gein. In one scene, Father Charlie (Nicolas Chavez) mentions that Ed Gein is his favorite serial killer, and after what is now known about Monster Season 3 is bound to make the connection. Which makes this ed no name-drop in Grotesquerie More notable (and shows that it may have been intentional) is that It is told by Chavez’s character – and Chavez played Lyle Menendez in it Monster Season 2.
Ryan Murphy also used Ed Gein as a major inspiration for American Horror Story Season 2
American Horror Story: Asylum’s main villain was inspired by Ed Gein
Although Monster Season 3 will directly cover the life and crimes of Ed Gein, Murphy has already used him as inspiration for a American Horror Story Character. American Horror Story: Asylum Centered on the many horrors that took place in the fictional mental institution Briarcliff Manor, but the main villain was Dr. Oliver Thredson (Zachary Quinto), aka Bloody Face. His crimes are what unfairly sent Keith (Evan Peters) to Briarcliff after He was accused of them, but what Keith and everyone else didn’t expect was Thredson, who worked at Briarcliff, being the real killer.
Bloody Phase has similar things in it American Horror Story: Asylum And yet it did not reach the horrors of Ed Gein.
Bloody Face was inspired by the crimes of Ed Gein, who the media dubbed “The Butcher of Plainfield”. Gein admitted to the murders of two women and robbed nine graves, but the actual number of victims and more is unknown. Gein’s crimes became notorious for what the police found in his house, as he had an affinity for crafting objects of human flesh. Bloody Phase has similar things in it American Horror Story: Asylum And yet it didn’t come close to the horror of Ed Gein, that is Monster Season 3 is going to be quite disturbing.
