Origin of the new Final Doom may seem confusing at first glance, but it’s worth unpacking because it has one of the most fascinating character dynamics in comics right now. Main villain Final Universe – Creator, original Final Reed Richards, who escaped the destruction of his original timeline and eventually invaded another, using time travel to change its history, creating a completely different, second iteration Final Marvel. This included interfering with the origins of the Fantastic Four, turning it into a disaster that only this reality’s Reed survived.

Final Doom is a product “extreme despair“, as he tells Tony Stark in this issue, and he lives only to defeat the evil Creator.

The Creator subsequently captured and tortured his colleague, disfiguring him and locking him behind an iron mask – as a result, a new, completely different Doom was born.. How Ultimates #4 makes it amazingly clear that the character was not just modeled after the original Doctor Doom, but he has evolved into a desperate, tragic hero who embodies that moniker, perhaps even more so than the infamous villain. He offers a visceral emotional connection to this broken, beaten-down version of Reed Richards. This also creates a major struggle for the character as he must refuse to submit to darkness in his battle against the Creator.

Ultimates put Doom’s Reed in a position where he could…[become] one of the most powerful heroes of his Earth, or [fall] by grace, as the Creator did.

In other words: over time, the first Final Reed Richards turned out not to be a stalwart hero of Marvel’s main story, but rather a diabolical and downright cruel villain. Now, Ultimates put Doom’s version of Reed in a position where he could go in either direction, either becoming one of his Earth’s most powerful heroes or falling out of favor like the Maker did. This is a powerful dramatic production that Ultimates we hope to bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
