Star Wars: Episodes 10-12 are inevitable

A new Star Wars the Simon Kinberg-led trilogy is reportedly in the works, and while these films aren’t confirmed as episodes 10 through 12, they’re a good reminder that these episodes are only a matter of time. Although Star Wars films and TV shows have expanded considerably over the decades, the franchise was built on its episodic structure, first with episodes 4-6 in the original Star Wars trilogy and then with episodes 1-3 in the prequels. THE Star Wars The sequel trilogy continued this pattern, while also theoretically ending it.

The Skywalker Saga should end with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkerwhich probably means Star Wars iconic ‘episodes’ have come to an end, even as the franchise continues to make films and TV shows. This addition to Star Wars the next few films called that into question, however. Some (unconfirmed) reports have already suggested that this new trilogy will include Episodes 10-12, but whether they do or not, Star Wars Episodes 10-12 seem almost inevitable.

Star Wars “episodes” are too big to broadcast

The episodes were where Star Wars shines

Although it was exciting to see the direction Star Wars took as the franchise moves away from the Skywalker family tree, there is something special about the Star Wars episodes that simply cannot be abandoned. There were a series of Star Wars projects outside of the Skywalker Saga that have proven incredibly popular, among them Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Bad Batchto name just a few. Still, it’s hard to match the excitement that comes with a new edition of Star Wars episodes.

It’s hard to match the excitement that comes with a new edition of Star Wars episodes.

Even though many still argue that the sequels are between Star Wars worst films, there was significant fanfare surrounding the return of the Skywalker Saga to the big screen, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ the box office numbers are proof enough of that. The Force Awakens raised more than US$2 billion worldwide– a surprising number even for Star Wars. It’s unlikely, even with the franchise’s dedication to telling new stories, that Star Wars will not take advantage of this again in the future.

Daisy Ridley’s Rey deserves to be the center of a new Star Wars trilogy

If the Skywalker saga continues, it should be with Rey Skywalker

Star Wars has not yet confirmed whether this new trilogy will be episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker saga, but Rey’s next Star Wars film, supposedly titled Star Wars: New Jedi OrderIt is confirmed to be in progress.. Although details about New Jedi Order remain limited, there currently does not appear to be any connection between Kinberg’s trilogy and New Jedi Order. In fact, this trilogy will evidently tell entirely new stories, which strongly suggests that Rey would not have a starring role in the films, if any at all.

That would be a huge insult to Rey Skywalker and Daisy Ridley.

Assuming this new trilogy is in fact episodes 10-12 and the projects are as separate as they seem, that would be a huge insult to Rey Skywalker and Daisy Ridley. Yes, the sequel trilogy and Rey’s role in it remain controversial in the Star Wars fan base, but this is indicative of larger complaints since Disney purchased Star Wars. Rey herself has become beloved by many, which is clear from the number of cosplays and the number of Star Wars fan art dedicated to Rey (and the lasting popularity of the ‘Reylo’ relationship).

Rey also won a trilogy focused on her story. While the treatment of the original trilogy’s heroes was one of the biggest complaints about the sequels, episodes 7 through 9 were mostly built on nostalgia for the original trilogy. In fact, one of the biggest problems of Star Wars Sequel films were sometimes heavy on the connection to the original trilogy films, especially A New Hope. A trilogy based on Rey would provide something truly new and allow her story to be the focal point. However, her next film could mean such a trilogy will never come for Rey.

When will Lucasfilm release Star Wars episodes 10-12?

Star Wars Episodes 10-12 Announcement Will Be Perfectly Timed

Even without Rey leading the trilogy, This would also be the ideal time to Star Wars to announce that episodes 10-12 are coming and capitalize on the excitement such an announcement would bring. Unfortunately, Star Wars has struggled lately to combat backlash, controversy and divisions within the fanbase. The Acolyte the cancellation was symptomatic of how divided things had become. Announcing the continuation of the Skywalker Saga would not immediately resolve these differences, but it would mean reinvigorating the franchise at a time when it sorely needs it.

This is true whether Simon Kinberg’s trilogy is confirmed as episodes 10-12 or not, although that seems to be the most likely option at the moment for Star Wars to reveal that new episodes of the Skywalker Saga are coming. It’s possible that reports simply misspoke when referring to this trilogy as Episodes 10-12 or, perhaps, Star Wars will actually bring back its episodic structure in Kinberg’s next trilogy. Either way, it’s only a matter of time before Star Wars announces episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker saga.
