Poison is one of Marvel’s most popular characters, and part of that is the sheer versatility of the symbiote’s design. Over the last decade, Venom has had some amazing designs, and Marvel just released another fantastic one with this new V-Star design that is unlike anything Venom has done before. This new design takes Venom to the far end of sci-fi, vi Venom ends up being much more than an android From the future as the iconic alien goo that readers know.
This killer new design just debuted in the Venomverse Reborn #3 Story “Beyond the Void” by Steve Fox and Kay Zama. The story takes place on Earth-71490, the home of Spider-Verse hero Web-Weaver. There’s been a recent spree of brutal murders against a former research team, and Web-Weaver is determined to get to the bottom of it. Although Web-Weaver is aware that the killer is a symbiote, he can never be prepared for the brand new look that this universe’s Venom is sporting.
It turns out that this universe’s version of Venom is not Eddie Brock, but instead Cindy Moon. After being experimented on by the villain Project V-Star, The Venom symbiote was pulled from an outside reality and infected Cindy Moon’s entire familyKill her mother and father before spreading to her and her brother. In order to ease her brother’s suffering, Cindy absorbs most of the symbiote from him, transforming into something readers have never seen before.

This version of Venom is not the classic muscle-bound hulking monster that readers are used to. Likewise, it’s not the slick Spider-Man-equal design. Instead, this V-Star Venom has a futuristic, angular design. This makes sense, because the symbiote is apparently from another reality entirely, with different physical laws. It’s an amazing new look that Venom hasn’t had before, And it really goes a long way to making Venom look otherworldly.
It seems looks aren’t the only difference either, as the V-Star Venom is shown to be fully capable of flying, which is a feat that Venom is not. Usually Capable, unless he grows wings first. V-Star is linked to the multiverse on a psychic level and perceives time differently than a human.Stripping Cindy of her humanity and leaving her obsessed with taking predestined revenge against the scientists who studied and manipulated her transformation.
There were Dozens of Venom hosts over the years, and none of them looked the same. From small alterations like Dylan Brock’s chain-wielding version to major changes like Guardians of the Galaxy’s Space Knight Venom, Venom can take dozens of different forms and fit into almost any setting. The Venom symbiote has been in Viking stories and now proves that it can do sci-fi just as easily. It’s this versatility that makes Venom capable of supporting an entire multiverse of stories.
Poison can take many different forms
Venom’s core design is so flexible, he can be anything from a T-Rex to a Space Ranger
Each time Venom bonds with a new host, he takes on a new form. Sometimes the forms are major changes, and sometimes they are minor variations on his classic design. Eddie Brock’s version of Venom looks completely different from when Peter Parker wore the symbiote, and they both look practically unrecognizable from when Flash Thompson wore it as Agent Venom. There are other universes, such as the Mangaverse where Kid Venom lives, the world where a dinosaur carries the symbiote, and many times and timelines where the symbiote claims new hosts including the Hulk, Spider-Gwen and Hyperion. Each time, fans know they can look forward to a unique twist on Venom.
However, the V-Star goes further, pushing the boundaries of Venom’s origin and powers to create what is essentially a new character with a unique connection to symbiote lore. It is likely that Venomverse Reborns best symbiotes will return soon (Cade Venom got his own comic series), so hopefully this is just the beginning of the V-Star symbiote’s horror-tinged sci-fi story as the newest (and perhaps best) Poison Variant in the Marvel Multiverse.
