Beetlejuice loved his dog very much
The first big reveal in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is about Betelgeuse’s cause of death. Beetlejuice was Italian and lived in the 14th century. Beetlejuice survived the Black Plague and was a serious thief, but one day he was captured by Delores. Not long after, Beetlejuice and Delores were married in a ceremony that included animal sacrifices, and they had a wild and passionate wedding night. But, that same night, Delores poisoned Beetlejuice, but before he died he killed her with an axe.

Despite the terrible ending of their marriage, Beetlejuice loved Delores at some point, so much so She was one of the loves of his life, among others. Just like the previous movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Has a musical number, this time with Betelgeuse, Lydia, Delia and Astrid, right before Lydia’s wedding to the Bio-Exorcist. Beetlejuice BeetlejuiceThe “MacArthur Park” scene saw Betelgeuse and Lydia lip-syncing to it, and at one point, there was a short montage of Betelgeuse’s love life, showing Lydia, Delores, and a dog.

Betelgeuse is not the same in the sequel
Beetlejuice was much more chaotic and borderline evil in the first movie than in the sequel. Beetlejuice has always been reckless, which is why he was a persona non grata in the afterlife, and had no limits when he finally showed up to scare the Deets away. however, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice showed that the bio-exorcist has some redeeming qualitiesAnd the change may be partly thanks to him now having a proper job in the netherworld, finally making him a part of the afterlife.

Beetlejuice isn’t a great guy and never has been, but he’s not entirely a villain, either.
Adding that Beetlejuice has a dog at one point shows that he has a heart and a good side – or, at least, he used to. Beetlejuice is not a big guy and never has been (he was a serious thief after all), but he is not completely evil either.
Tim Burton’s dark pet theme hints at a tragic fate for Betelgeuse’s dog
Tim Burton has a history with dogs in his movies
Beetlejuice with a dog he loves might not seem like a tragic thing, but given Tim Burton’s track record with dogs in his movies, Beetlejuice’s pet may have had a tragic fate. Burton has a history of killing dogs in his moviesSo much so that some viewers have come up with theories about how some of his movies tell the tragic story of one dog – from his death to his arrival in the afterlife. The dogs are Sparky from FrankenvenieZero of The Nightmare Before Christmasand scraps of dead bride.
Sparky was killed but his owner brought him back to life, Zero was a ghost dog, and Scraps was just bones. It is likely that Beetlejuice’s favorite dog was one he met in the afterlife, although what happened to him is unknown – who knows, maybe the dog got on the soul train to the great beyond. If Beetlejuice met his dog while he was alive, it’s also a sad story because they didn’t reunite in the netherworld.
