The X-Men’s terrifying new villain is taking out their strongest mutants (and I hate to say it, but Charles Xavier is once again to blame)

WARNING: Upcoming spoilers for Uncanny X-Men #5!Rogue and her X-Men are facing a massive, elusive threat called the Witch, who has made it clear that her hatred for mutants comes from none other than Professor X. I have always seen Charles Xavier as the X-Men’s beloved mentor and father figure, however, he has since fallen on a path of moral obscurity, and his fight with the Witch unwittingly put his X-Men in the line of fire once again.

Mysterious X-Men #5 – written by Gail Simone, with art by David Marquez – explains the backstory of Sarah Gaunt, aka the Witch, as she is revealed to be Charles Xavier’s old college crush, and explains that he is the her reason for hunting mutants.

I’m sure that after Charles abandoned her and her son, she is now taking it out on mutants because she feels replaced, and while I don’t believe that Charles Xavier intended to abandon Sarah, the professor has an infamous history of transgressions, and this time, the consequences are deadly.

New X-Men antagonist Sarah Gaunt is a serious threat – and Professor X is responsible for making her evil

Sarah Gaunt emerges from the shadows behind Rogue.

Throughout the current Mysterious X-Men race, Rogue showed herself to be an incredibly strong and capable leader, and while she stood her ground while fighting the Witch, Sarah showed the brute strength of her previously noted witch powers and brutally defeated Rogue. Sarah Gaunt also defeated Wolverine in Uncanny X-Men #4, showing that she is a genuine threat by taking down some of the X-Men’s biggest hitters. With Sarah Gaut considered a major threat, I’m eager to see what set her at war with Charles and how she became so powerful.

Sarah intentionally got pregnant, but Xavier wasn’t ready and it is indicated that she ended up raising her son alone when she saw the tragic loss of her son during a major hurricane. Sarah, losing her son and drowning during the hurricane, transforms her into a creature that radiates a forest witch fueled by nightmares, and I find his claws forged from assassin’s blades and the unknown source of his immense power to be incredibly intriguing.. Sarah mentions that her power is beyond that of an Omega-level mutant, and while her being a mutant is plausible, I’m not entirely convinced and highly anticipate the continuation of her origin.

I think Sarah Gaunt’s War on Mutants will further separate Professor X from the X-Men

Xavier’s actions continue to have consequences for mutants

Origin of the Witch, also known as Sarah Gaunt

Professor Despite what happened, in Mysterious X-Men #1, Sarah tells how Charles lets his most loyal students die while replacing them with new followers, and there is some merit to this; fans will remember, for example, when recalling Xavier’s mind-wiped Cyclops after his first X-Men rescue team on Krakoa went wrong. While I don’t believe Sarah’s actions are Professor X’s fault, Xavier’s tendency to quickly avoid problems is now haunting his X-Men.

…if Rogue, Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men discover why Sarah Gaunt is hunting them, Charles and the X-Men’s connection will be irreversibly damaged.

Because Charles chose to start a family with the X-Men over her, Sarah Gaunt is making it her mission to destroy everything Xavier values, and she keeps her word as she hunts mutants and attacks Rogue’s team. I think this could add to the growing rift between the X-Men and their former mentor. The X-Men are still bitter over Charles’ betrayal during the fall of Krakoa and if Rogue, Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men discover why Sarah Gaunt is chasing them, Charles and the X-Men’s connection will be irreversibly damaged.

Sarah Gaunt confirms what I already suspected: Charles Xavier is a negligent father and leader

How much pain has he caused his children of the atom?

Professor Charles and Legion’s relationship has always been turbulent, but in the Krakoa era, Xavier’s deep suspicion leads him to infect Legion with a psychic virus, leaving his son catatonic. Xavier calls his X-Men his children, although he often neglects their biological ones, and With the way Sarah Gaunt refers to herself as “Mommy,” it’s clear that her son’s death plays an important role in her revenge against the X-Men..

The Witch’s powers are shrouded in mystery, but I’m enjoying piecing together her and Charles’ story, and looking forward to learning more about this deadly new threat that Rogue’s X-Men must face. While Charles was deceived by Sarah, I see this tendency of Professor The X-Men are picking up the pieces of Krakoa and are now forced to right another of Professor X’s mistakes, facing a threat that has already defeated Rogue and Wolverine, both of whom are exceptionally powerful. X-Men.
