James Gunn has responded to the latest batch of DC rumors, including those of a new one Batman Villain film. DC will have multiple live-action Batman actors active at the same time, like Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne and The Batman The franchise will remain separate from the new DC Universe. Gunn’s DCU will debut its own Dark Knight when Batman The brave and the bold Movie arrives. After a Deathstroke and Train movie was reported to be in the works, Gunn took to social media to address another Batman villain movie rumor.
On threads, DC Universe creative chief James Gunn Speaking about the veracity of the DC rumors that came out last week when asked about a Mr. Freeze movie.
Regarding the many recent DC movie rumors, Gunn revealed that “Some of them are true, some are partially true, and some are not true.” The creator also said fans shouldn’t fully believe any rumors unless Gunn or his DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran confirms them. After that, James Gunn Immediately debunked the rumor about Batman villain Mr. Freeze getting a movie.
The rumor of Batman villain movie stated that The Batman Director Matt Reeves was developing a movie focused on Mr. Freeze. Although Gunn said that this is not a bad idea and may even happen in the future, the rumor is not true, like Reeves is not working on a Mr. Freeze movie.
Another Batman villain could be coming to the big screen
While Gunn said there was no truth to the rumors of Mr. Freeze movie, the DC Studios co-CEO noted that such a project would not be a bad idea. Gunn’s other comment on the latest wave of DC rumors did not specify the situation of the reported Deathstroke and Bane movie. However, if the project is part of the rumors that Gunn said are true or partially true, a Mr. Freeze movie could be a concrete possibility for the future.

The Deathstroke and Bane film would join the ranks of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker franchise, both focusing on Batman villains. This would set a firm precedent for a Mr. Freeze film, especially if Joker: Folie à Deux And the Deathstroke and Bane film is as successful as the record-breaking 2019 Joker. That said, while Gunn notes that a Matt Reeves Mr. Freeze movie could be a thing in the future, the project isn’t likely at this time.
The Batman villain would be perfect for a solo film
I am excited about the possibility of Mr. Freeze eventually gets a solo film. While I don’t believe that every Batman villain works for a solo franchise or project, Mr. Freeze’s tragic backstory could make an excellent one-off movie. Gunn’s comments reveal that there are no plans to make this happen, but the DCU creative chief sees the potential the story could have. As such, I’m hopeful that Gunn will turn to Mr. Freeze at some point, be it for a Batman Movie in the DCU, a villain in Robert Pattinson The Batman franchise, or leading an Elseworlds solo movie.
