In Baldur’s Gate 3Sorcerers have several equipment options to try out. Since the best gear isn’t available until Acts 2 and 3, playing Sorcerer in Act 1 can feel like a bit of a chore, especially considering the length of Act 1. This means that players will have to be more careful when playing Sorcerer, as They are generally not tanky and can be knocked down easily.
To prevent a Sorcerer from being killed, it is important to have reliable and consistent healing sources and access to temporary hit points. This can turn the Sorcerer into a pseudo-tank, over-healing their HP. While it’s unfortunate that most of the Sorcerer’s best gear is available later in the game, Sorcerers can still do a lot of damage in the early levels.

Cloak of the plot
Bonuses to magical attack rolls
The Cloak of the Weave can be purchased or stolen in Act 3 of the salesman Helsikthe owner of the Devil’s Fee in Cidade Baixa. This cloak provides a +1 to Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Rolls. It also comes with the elemental absorption reaction, which halves the damage of an elemental attack and applies 1d6 of that element to your next weapon attack.
This cape is an excellent option for all Sorcerers, no matter what subclass you are using. BG3as it will increase the likelihood of spells landing Critical Hits and forcing enemies to fail Saving Throws. For example, this cover is perfect for spellcasters who use Hold Person to deal damage from the group’s Martials. AND, most notably for the multiclass SorlockThis cover is perfect for Supernatural Explosion
as it increases the chance of connecting to your target.
9
Ring of Regeneration
Consistent Source of Healing
can be purchased or stolen from Sorcerous Sundries in Act 3. At the start of each turn during combat, this ring heals the wearer for 1d4 HP. This ring is a great choice for almost any character, but I recommend it for Sorcerers, who generally find it harder to stay alive than other classes.
To make this ring as powerful as possible, combine it with the Wound Closure Periapt
to receive 4 HP healing each turn.
Sorcerers have one of the lowest HP gains per level of all classes in Baldur’s Gate 3. However, this ring’s self-healing functionality means the Sorcerer Can self-revive if shot down. This is an excellent quality of life change for a class that is squishy.
8
Blink Ring
Invaluable defensive tool
The Ring of Blink can be purchased in Tressym, Tara, in Rivington, on the roof of the Open Hand Temple, as shown by Raaz1312 in the video above. This ring allows the user cast the Blink spell once per Long Rest. The Blink spell lasts 10 turns and is one of the Sorcerer’s most powerful defensive options.
At the end of the user’s turn, a D20 is rolled, and if the result is 11 or higher, the user will disappear into the Ethereal Plane, where they cannot be harmed, seen, or affected. While on this plane, the Sorcerer can reposition himself with impunity, as enemies will not be able to inflict damage. However, at the end of each turn, there is a chance that this effect will end.
7
Spellcrux Amulet
Refund high level spells
THE Spellcrux Amulet
can be looted in Act 2 of The Warden in Moonrise Towers. This is the same area where the player can rescue the Tieflings and Wulbren Bongle, the leader of the Iron Hand Gnomes. This amulet grants the user Spell Slot Restorationwhich allows the user to restore a single spell slot of any level once per long rest.
Spells like Disintegrate, Chain of Lightning and Globe of Invulnerability are great options for using this amulet.
To use this amulet more effectively, in fact, it shouldn’t be equipped during combat. It is an exchange item, which means it must be used after casting a level 6 spell, which can be refunded using this amulet. Use a different amulet during combat, as this amulet provides no benefit during battle.
6
Amulet of Greater Health
Boost HP and concentration
is found at the very end of the game in Raphael’s House of Hope, in the Archive. Convince the Archivist that you belong here and explore the Archive as you please. The amulet can be found on a pedestal on the right side of the Archive, guarded by a trap.
If the player decides to use this amulet, they must respec on Withers and put the extra stat points into Charisma, Dexterity, and Wisdom.
The Amulet of Greater Health sets the user’s Constitution score to 23 and Advantage in concentration stress tests. This is invaluable for Sorcerers using Twinned Metamagic, as they can speed up two party members with less fear of losing concentration. Many of the Sorcerer’s most powerful spells rely on maintaining concentration, so this item is necessary to become a full Sorcerer.
5
Hell’s Twilight Boots
Deal damage with Misty Step
The Boots of Twilight Hell can be looted from a chest in Act 3 on the top floor of Wyrmrock Fortress after defeating BG3Lord Enver Gortash. For exact location you can use Steel Windas a reference if you can’t find them. Helldusk Boots grant the user Steadfast, meaning they cannot be forcibly moved by an enemy’s spells or actions, and the Infernal Evasion reaction acts as a Saving Throw guaranteed once per Long Rest. The boots also come with an exclusive version of the Misty Step called Hellcrawler, which deals 2d8 Fire damage in the radius where the wearer lands.
These boots are essentially a direct upgrade from the Disintegrating Night Walkers and are especially effective on characters who have Fire resistance. This is because Hellcrawler will also damage the userthat fire resistance can mitigate. Additionally, Infernal Evasion will allow Sorcerers to maintain concentration during a crucial moment, keeping the tide of battle in the player’s favor.
4
Spell Gloves
Grandmaster of weapons for sorcerers
THE Spell Gloves
are given to the player in Act 3 as a reward from Lucretious at the end of the quest Find Dribbles the Clown. If you are having trouble finding the clown’s body parts, use Sorcerer Wormfrom the video above to speed up the process. The Spellmight Gloves can also be stolen from Lucretious if the player wants to avoid searching the city for Dribbles’ body parts. These gloves grant the wearer the Spellmight passive, which can be toggled on and off to grant additional damage on a magical attack roll. but has a -5 penalty on the test.
These gloves essentially act like a Grand Weapon Master talent, but for magic, which can drastically increase a character’s DPS. Using the spell Magic Missile
in conjunction with these boots is incredibly powerful, as Magic Missile is guaranteed to hitso the -5 penalty on attack rolls is ignored. Be sure to note when this passive is on or off, as there will be cases where it is best to disable it to ensure the attack hits.
3
Weft hood
Increase spell save DC
THE Plot Hood
can be purchased or looted in Act 3 from Mystic Carrion inside Philgrave’s Mansion. This hood grants the wearer a +2 bonus to Spell Save DC and Spell Attack Rollswhich is double the effectiveness of Cloak of Weave. As such, using these pieces of equipment together grants the user +3 to spell save DC and spell attack rolls.
With the huge bonus to magical attack rolls, using Spellmight gloves is much less risky, as these bonuses can offset the -5 penalty received from the Spellmight passive. This hood can make or break certain fights, as Sorcerers must be meticulous with their attacks, as they generally only have one action per turn. As a result, it is imperative that Sorcerers find equipment to increase the likelihood of hitting their target.
2
Birthright
Free ASI Charisma
THE Birthright
hat can be purchased or stolen in Act 3 of Sorcerous Sundries in BG3. This grants the user +2 Charismaessentially acting as a free ability score boost. This hat can increase Charisma to 22, which is normally impossible when relying solely on leveling up.
With such a high Charisma stat, the Sorlock multiclass benefits the most due to Eldritch Blast Agonizing Summonwhich adds the user’s Charisma modifier to the damage of the Eldritch Blast cantrip. Only two Warlock levels are needed to get Agonizing Blast, so I highly recommend doing this. This can be extraordinarily useful for managing Spell Slot resources, as Eldritch Blast is a cantrip and costs no resources.
1
Powerful Robe
Increase trick damage
THE Powerful Robe
can be acquired in Act 2 of Alfira after rescuing the Tieflings from Moonrise Towers Prison. This means that without exploring the game, this cloak cannot be obtained in a Dark Urge playthrough due to Alfira’s death. As a result, I don’t recommend using the Sorlock multicass in a Dark Urge playthrough.as this mantle is essential for the construction to function.
Other chest clothing options |
|
---|---|
Ultimate Defense Robes |
While concentrating, add your spellcasting ability modifier to your saving throws and gain +1 to AC |
Wavemother Robes |
Resistance to fire and cold damage If the user is in water at the start of the turn, they heal 1d4 HP Level 4: Create or destroy water +1 to AC |
Moon Devotion Robe |
While the wearer has Mage Armor, each successful Saving Throw causes the source of the Saving Throw to take 1d4 Radiant damage. Advantage on Constitution Saving Throws Saving Throws +1 Level 1: Lunar Bulwark Produces Flame Trick |
Gregarious Caster stacks with Agonizing Blast, causing Eldritch Blast to deal an absurd amount of damage.
The Potent Robe grants the wearer +1 to Armor Class as well as the Gregarious Caster passive, which makes Cantrips deal additional damage equal to the user’s Charisma modifier. This cloak also grants the wearer Temporary Hit Points equal to their Charisma modifier at the start of the wearer’s turn. With these items in hand, Sorcerer players should have little to no trouble crushing the entire Baldur’s Gate 3.
