A Guardians of the Galaxy Easter Egg Just Got Paid This Year

A character who was briefly hinted at in Guardians of the Galaxy finally made his MCU debut over a decade later. The Orb is housed in a temple with security measures that he must bypass, which would make sense since it was later revealed that the Orb housed the Power Stone. When Peter Quill enters the temple, there are murals on the wall detailing various cosmic forces vying for control of the Infinity Stones. The entities represented included Entropy, Infinity, Eternity, and none other than Death himself.

The murals aren’t a big focus of the scene, as they only appeared in the background, but as with most things in the MCU, there was always a reason for them to be shown. Marvel likely knew that cosmic avatars would eventually play a role in the franchise, so they took the opportunity to drop a subtle Easter egg. Death is a unique character and a fascinating concept of a cosmic entity that was always destined for an MCU debut, and it’s gratifying to know that Marvel already had her in mind in 2014.

It took Marvel 10 years to make up for the character’s death

Marvel had the opportunity to introduce Death to the MCU long before they did. The character had a relationship with Thanos in the comics, but the studio didn’t decide to adapt that storyline. Instead, other plans were created for Lady Death, resulting in her debuting much later in 2024.
