The wait for Ahsoka Season 2, following an overall positive reception with season 1, is reportedly set to continue into next year. With Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano, Ahsoka has officially been renewed for season 2 along Star Wars Announcement of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, with Lucasfilm assuring audiences that the project was in development with creator Dave Filoni at the helm. After 10 months of no news, however, viewers were worried about Ahsoka Season 2’s status. As it turns out, production likely won’t begin for the new installment until after 2024 comes to an end.
In a round-up analysis of Disney Star Wars content, THR reported that “Sources say the new [Ahsoka] Season will go into production next year.” This is not surprising, considering that Filoni and the rest of the Ahsoka Creative team are currently working on filming The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie, which began production back in July of this year. Still, it unfortunately sets Ahsoka Season 2 ago quite far, considering the fact that Ahsoka Season 1 will likely be celebrating its 2-year anniversary around the time Season 2 will reportedly begin filming.
What does Ahsoka Season 2 mean for Star Wars?
The Star Wars television slate is changing
This timeline for production on Ahsoka Season 2 means that Star Wars Has really dialed back his TV release slate, and it will likely be reset pretty soon. Ahsoka is one of only three live-action Star Wars TV shows that are left to be releasedwith Skeleton Crew Arriving on December 1 and Andr Season 2 is expected to arrive in the early part of next year. If Ahsoka Season 2 doesn’t even hit production until 2025, and it probably won’t release until 2026 — which would more than likely be after the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu In theaters.

What could be happening here is that Star Wars is planning to relaunch its TV slate during the next Star Wars CelebrationWhich takes place in Tokyo next spring. Ahsoka Season 2 may be part of this new plan, hence why production on its next installment has been pushed back so far. With all the focus now went to the next Star Wars Movie, it is very possible that the franchise is hoping to hit big with The Mandalorian & Grogu To better balance his movies and his TV shows going forward, rather than favoring one over the other.
Why is Ahsoka Season 2 taking so long to make?
Star Wars’ next movie is the current focus
Given how tight knit Ahsoka is in the “Mandoverse,” It could be that The Mandalorian & Grogu had to be made first in order for Ahsoka Season 2’s story to be fully polished. If Ahsoka Season 2 is meant to take place after the movie in the Star Wars timeline, so it is reasonable to understand that Filoni would not want to get ahead of himself and accidentally create snags in the continuity. Of course, audiences won’t really know the reason for the delay until now Ahsoka Season 2 is ready, though I’m optimistic it will be worth the wait.
