Notice! SPOILERS for Grey’s Anatomy Season 21, Episode 6 ahead.
The last moments of Grey’s Anatomy
Season 21 Episode 6 offered insight into Mika’s potential exit story, highlighting a sad trend that could begin. Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 6 set up the season’s major departures, focusing on Levi and Mika’s stories[…]after the return of its actors Jake Borelli and Midori Francis to conclude the characters’ story was announced before Grey’s Anatomy season 21. However, while Levi’s exit story seemingly sets him up for a journey that will make all his dreams come true in the future, Mika’s appears to be taking a darker, more life-threatening path.
Along its route, many Grey’s Anatomy interns and residents were unable to finish the residency program at Gray Sloan Memorial or not at all. The reasons that led them to not complete the residency were multiple, from the saddest such as death, a fate that befell several interns, including George O’Malley in Grey’s Anatomy Season 5, at least dangerous, like being fired after a mistake or leaving after the residency program ends. However, Grey’s Anatomy The end of Season 21 Episode 6 hints at a different fate for Mika, worse than any exit storyline previously seen in Grey’s Anatomy.
Mika falling asleep at the wheel with Chloe in the car makes her responsible
If Chloe died from this and the cancer wouldn’t crush Mika
Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 Episode 6 marked a surprisingly happy change for Mika, who not only managed to cleverly save a life, but also attend surgery after days of not being able to feel useful at work. This came at a busy and generally sad time, seeing as how Mika was looking after her sister Chloe appearing in Grey’s Anatomy season 21 following his cancer diagnosis. However, trying to keep up with everything that was going on in Mika’s life evidently took its toll, as Mika can be seen falling asleep at the wheel just before the end of season 21, episode 6.
Grey’s Anatomy The promo for Season 21 Episode 7 hinted at the severity of Mika and Chloe’s injuries.
Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Meg Marinis previously revealed how both departures in season 21 would keep options open for the characters’ returns, making Mika’s death highly unlikely – unless her return happened like Lexi, Derek and George did in Grey’s Anatomy season 17. Grey’s Anatomy The promo for Season 21 Episode 7 hinted at the severity of Mika and Chloe’s injuries. Putting them both in danger further increases the likelihood that only one of them will survive, and Chloe’s death in the car accident caused by Mika’s exhaustion places an incredibly painful kind of responsibility on Mika..
Chloe’s health was already at stake when she was introduced to Grey’s Anatomy season 21 with a serious illness. However, dying from cancer after Mika managed to preserve her fertility would make Mika certain that she would do everything she could to save her sister. Instead of, If Chloe died because of an accident after Mika didn’t rest in the hospital when she was supposed to, it would crush Mika. The death itself and the guilt that hinders his career and life would make sense as Mika’s exit storyline in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, but it would be the saddest possible exit story for Mika.
Mika’s car accident sets up her exit that breaks an internal trend on Grey’s Anatomy
Previous exits were either tragic or the intern’s fault, but not both
Several residents left Gray Sloan after horrific events. Charles and Reed were killed during Season 6’s mass shooting, George sacrificed himself for a stranger, Mousey was electrocuted while searching for Richard, and Stephanie left hospital life behind after the explosion and the ordeal with the patient who threatened her. However, all these horrible events were not the interns’ fault. Mika is the one driving and falling asleep at the wheel will inevitably make her feel guilty, whatever fate is in store for Chloe. in Grey’s Anatomy season 21, but even more so if Chloe died as a result.
