Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Is not long out, but with the balance of opportunities a Warhammer Game gives, the talk of possible DLCs is already rampant. From new game modes for PvE to more maps for PvP, there is something that can be brought to the game for everyone. There have been talks about the lack of cosmetic options for the Chaos Space Marines in PvP compared to the Astartes, leading to the idea that the Chaos Space Marines may be saved for another purpose.
The heretic Astartes may be traitors, but they are still dubbed marines across the galaxy. Their role in Space Marine 2 There can be more than just faceless troops to fight the overly designed Space Marines in PvP or the antagonistic enemy units in the game’s story missions. Their inclusion in the game alongside the Tyranids changed the basic bug-bashing gameplay into a conflict of ideology. There is no better legion to clash ideologically against the Ultramarines than the Word BearersAnd so there is no better Legion for players to control in future DLC.
Word Bearers DLC would be perfect for Space Marine 2
Ultramarines despite the word carriers
There are three main events that caused the seething hatred between the Ultramarines and Word Bearers. The first is the infamous Horus Heresy, the civil war where the Space Marine Legions turned on the Emperor. The Word Bearers were one of the first to align themselves with Chaos and lead the legions against the Ultramarine homeworld. This started the endless feud between them. There was also the saga of Kalt. The treachery of the word bearers was even more appalling than it was in a time of relative peace between enemies.

The existence of the Archenemy is considered an affront to the Imperium, but the clash between Ultramarines and Word Bearers is particularly prominent and would serve as the perfect counter to Titus’ story in Space Marine 2s main game. The inclusion of Tyranid but also Chaos Forces gives Saber Interactive a window to use more of the lore and see more aspects of the game’s story in PvE operations through the eyes of ChaosRather than another Space Marine Chapter.
The word bearers lack of appearance in PvP may be a hint
So little chaos cosmetic is interesting in general
While the Space Marine PvP faction is abundant with cosmetics customization, The Chaos side is severely lackingOffering only a handful of color alterations and heraldry for a select group of legions. This could be because Saber Interactive wanted to introduce PvP and included the Chaos Marines in a rush just to ensure they had no opposing sides to fight, but it could also be the foundation for future DLC. Having the Legions have their own story and include pages of cosmetics would put them on the same level as the Space Marines.
What’s more intriguing is the complete lack of word carriers as even a color option in PvP. Considering their importance in the lore and conflict with the Ultramarines, the main Chapter of the game, a player would expect to be able to paint their Chaos Marine in the Word Bearer’s colors when fighting them. The lack of inclusion of the word bearers in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Could be foreshadowing in itself that they will make a later but much grander appearance in the game, bringing their own operation missions with them.
