how he had to patch things up with many of his loved ones, but one relationship kept wavering throughout the firefighting drama – however, Land of Fire Season 3, Episode 4 finally resolved the issue. Land of Fire The first season focused heavily on Bode’s past and how becoming a convict firefighter was an important step for himalso showing how he would rather be at any other fire camp than Three Rock. Land of Fire showed that Bode’s relationship with his family and friends was so strained that he used the surname Donovan.
Put Land of Fire At the end of the first season, everyone welcomed Bode. In fact, while Sharon tried from the moment she saw Bode to reestablish a connection with him, Vince needed more time, still blaming Bode for Riley’s death after Bode’s younger sister died in the car he was driving when they they knocked. Like Sharon, Eve quickly focused on the positive aspects of having Bode back in town. However, Bode and Jake’s first meeting after years apart was a physical altercation, even though Bode saved Jake’s life. Jake and Bode’s friendship continued to go through the worst ups and downs Land of Fire.
Jake and Bode clashed over several issues in Fire Country
They disagreed with Riley, Gen and The Cal Fire’s training
From Land of Fireseries premiere, Bode and Jake’s relationship was conflicted, as Bode blamed Jake for Riley’s deathafter she tried to open the car door while he was driving distracted him enough to cause the accident. Riley was distraught upon returning from her birthday dinner because Jake broke her heart, making everything more difficult when Bode returned to Edgewater, as it was the first time she saw Jake after the car accident. Although Bode and Jake eventually overcame their anger, it was difficult to believe that they were ever friends, as Land of Fire often pit them against each other.
Gabriela developing feelings for Bode while in a relationship with Jake could have caused more conflict between the two, but strangely they never fought over it. However, a bigger problem arose Land of Fire season 2. If Jake saved Bode’s future by telling him that Genevieve could have been his daughter, he also made his own life difficult, as Bode convinced Cara to let him meet Genevieve as his goal once he returned to Three Rock. Face Land of Fire the death in season 2 only made things worse, as it pitted Bode and Jake against each other for custody of Genevieve.
Fire Country Season 3 Episode 4 Finally Shows Why Bode and Jake Are Friends
Bode and Jake’s friendship had more fights than bonding moments
Land of Fire Season 3, Episode 2 showed a unique bonding moment, including Bode, Eve, and Jake singing along in Sharon and Vince’s living room, but Bode potentially joining Cal Fire training for ex-convict firefighters in phase two has pitted Jake and Bode against each other again. This was especially true after Jake found Gilmore’s medical alert necklace in Bode’s locker, making things difficult as Jake had to decide how to handle the crisis. The conflict did not disappear after this, as Jake wished to not play favorites with Cadet Bode, causing him to be particularly harsh on Bode.
Jake asking Genevieve for advice finally put Bode and Jake back in the role of friends, not trainer and intern in season three of Fire Country.
Land of Fire Season 3 easily established how hard Jake had been on any intern, but not being able to trust Bode caused Jake to always criticize him at any small moment that might suggest Bode would question him. Jake finally trusting Bode during the elevator rescue Land of Fire season 3, episode 4 not only saved his life, but also made his and Bode’s friendship balance again, as that call was Bode’s last in phase two. Jake asking Genevieve for advice finally puts Bode and Jake back in the role of friends, not trainer and intern.
Fire Country Season 3 Should Focus More on Bode and Jake’s Bond
Most of Bode and Jake’s bonding moments seem to happen off-screen
Jake proposing that Bode should have gone with him to give Gen the good news that she could homeschool with Rick’s kids. Land of Fire viewers a different type of bond between the two friends. In fact, Land of Fire kept saying how Bode and Jake were always friendsbut besides a flashback to Riley’s birthday in Land of Fire season 1, episode 2, the two were almost exclusively shown fighting. Bode and Jake remembering how natural it was for them and Gen to watch Superior weapon together finally puts their friendship at the forefront and makes her feel that way.
Although their friendship was considered good after Bode accepted that Jake should have custody of Gen, the firefighting drama never showed the two friends bonding. Although in the scenes with Eve they seemed quite friendly, Land of Fire season 3 should focus more on Bode and Jake’s personal bond as friends as establishing their friendship by showing this makes it even more impactful. This could also lead to more drama whenever Bode and Jake fight again, as a threat to their friendship might seem more believable after seeing them actually behave like friends.
