Warning: spoilers ahead for Time cut.
This article mentions attempted suicide.
Although Time cut is full of plot holes and time travel inaccuracies, includes a strange scene that could tease a fascinating plot twist. Netflix Time cut The cast drives the story through two time periods, although the majority of the plot unfolds in 2003. The main plot revolves around a serial killer known only as Sweetly Slasher, and the efforts of Madison Bailey’s Lucy Field and her two accomplices to prevent Time cutis the villain. However, Slasher’s defeat may not completely dispel the threat.
The identity of Time cutEventually, it is revealed that Sweetly Slasher is Griffin Gluck’s Quinn, but a version of him from twenty years in the future, who has become increasingly bitter as he is romantically rejected by Antonia Gentry’s Summer Field – Lucy’s sister. Although Time cutThe absurd ending of makes it seem like Future Quinn won’t be a problem going forward, the possibility of a second Sweetly Slasher is still great about a possible sequel.
Time Cut’s Mall Scene Features a Second Sweet Slasher: Theory Explained
Sweetly Slasher’s rapid movement implies the existence of an accomplice
After deliberating about intervening in Sweetly Slasher’s murder spree, Lucy eventually chooses to try to stop. Time cuthe’s a bad guy. During the mall scene, Lucy and the Slasher’s first victim leave their pursuer behind in a store, slightly blocking his path on the way out. Regardless, the Slasher immediately appears at the bottom of the escalator where the two girls are escaping. From what the film reveals, Quinn does not have the ability to teleport or any other means of traveling that quickly. So this raises the possibility that there are two Slashers working together.
The theory only holds when seen from the point of view of the universe, as other explanations could explain Sweetly Slasher’s rapid movement. In short, another reason for the villain’s apparent abilities is that the film simply made a continuity error, and the poor editing of this moment simply implies something that was never intended. Alternatively, it may have just been a misguided attempt to create a scare by playing to Time cutsecondary genre like a teen horror film. Either way, another Slasher’s theory of the universe is much more convincing.
Could the second Sweetly Slasher be Quinn from another timeline?
Griffin Gluck’s villainous character implies this possibility
A second Sweetly Slasher wouldn’t necessarily mean there’s a completely separate culprit. Both figures are the same height and build, and are even dressed exactly the same. So it could be that the Slashers are versions of Quinn, both from alternate – albeit similar – futures. If 1 Quinn Experienced The Same Urge To Kill His Targetsso it’s not beyond the possibility that another Quinn from a different future also experienced the same outcome and traveled back to the same point as his counterpart.
Extending this logic to its inevitable conclusion, there may even be more than two Quinns as the Sweetly Slasher(s).
Time cutThe time travel rules are nebulous and confusing and don’t particularly line up with the on-screen explanations. However, the film proves that two Quinns can exist side by side having Griffin Gluck play both versions of the character near the end of the film. Future Quinn even gives a vague explanation of “That’s not how time travel works“when his younger self threatens to kill himself and, by extension, the Sweetly Slasher. Extending this logic to its inevitable conclusion, there could even be more than two Quinns as Sweetly Slasher(s).
Time cut has more in common with multiverse films than time travel stories, as the butterfly effect appears to not exist. Instead, an entirely new reality seems to form with each decision, and they don’t influence each other directly. With that in mind, It may be that each victim was originally killed by a different Sweetly Slasher – they were all different Quinns. Each of them could have come from a different universe, where they were rejected by one of three girls and then returned home.
Why Time Cut 2 focusing on the other Sweetly Slasher would be a mistake
Time Cut 2 risks losing its sci-fi subgenre
Although Time Cut 2 was not announced, the film’s ending leaves many unanswered questions that could lead to a sequel. If a second film happens, then Time Cut 2 would have a hard time finding a plot good enough to justify its existence. Firstly, focusing on another Sweetly Slasher would make the sequel feel too much like the originalso it would be pointless to just retread the same ground – especially considering how bad some of the reviews were.
Additionally, a second film set in 2003 that focuses on the other Sweetly Slasher’s hunt for the film’s main trio would likely be devoid of any time travel. A large part Time cutThe film’s appeal is the cerebral, bouncy elements of its serial killer. If a sequel is just a cheesy teen horror movie with as little gore as its predecessor, it’s not clear who that movie would be for. What would be much more interesting would be to delve into the concept of the multiverse caused by the presence of two identical Slashers in Time cutmall scene.
