Why Sauron can’t change shape in The Lord of the Rings
Sauron loses his powers in the Second Age
Lord of the Rings Sauron is not shown changing form to maintain power, as the villain no longer has the ability to do so during the Third Age of Middle-earth. According to Tolkien’s works, Sauron loses the ability to take on his “fair form“after the fall of Númenor. From this point on, his appearance serves as a reflection of the evil within him (via Central Bank of the Russian Federation). And when Sauron is defeated by Isildur during the Battle of Dagorlad, his ability to change shape disappears completely.
Sauron is still able to form a new body when he returns to the Third Age, but he lacks physical fitness for a long time. He also appears to be incapable of choosing which form to take. Lord of the Rings. In his necromancer form, he doesn’t even have a finger, but the damage caused by Isildur remains. Needless to say, Rings of Power Season 2 may be one of the few times viewers see Sauron fully embrace his shapeshifting. On the other hand, the ending demonstrates this ability perfectly.
