The first image is revealed Bunny Man. From an Italian production team, Bunny Man is an upcoming superhero thriller about an enigmatic multimillionaire who is also an anonymously famous rapper, wearing a bunny mask. His once perfect life was cut short by the need to step in to hunt down the people responsible for his sister’s suicide. Bunny Man was written by Alessandra Starr Ward, Andrea Iervolino and Daniel H. Friedman. Its cast is led by James Franco, with a supporting cast that includes Bella Thorne, Michele Morrone, Franco Nero, Mike Tyson, Debora Nascimento and Ana Goija.
According to Deadline, the first image was revealed to Bunny Man. The image shows a man, presumably Franco, wearing Bunny-Man’s stretchy black superhero costume and riding a motorcycle. The hero’s mask includes two tall rabbit ears on top of the head. The motorcycle is not moving, but is positioned on some wooden planks to keep it upright. Check out the image below:
What this means for Bunny Man
Bunny-Man looks like a superhero
The first look Bunny Man shows the superhero in a suit and motorcycle who looks very similar to DC’s classic Batman. Like Batman, Bunny-Man sports all black, with a mostly spandex outfit that includes armor. Just like Batman’s bat ears, the animal linked to Rabbitman’s mask also sits on top of his head. Unlike the Dark Knight, however, who typically sports his symbol on his chest, it appears that the Rabbit Man’s only connection to a rabbit is the rabbit ears on his mask.
As development continues Bunny Manit is likely that such comparisons can continue to be made. This presents a challenge for the film, as it will have to work hard to differentiate itself from other major superheroes. The film’s creative team appears to have high hopes for the film, with Iervolino noting that “Bunny Man will revolutionize the way we think about superheroes.“ In the same vein, the CEO of Motus Studios, who is involved in the project, said that he and his team “I strongly believe in the commercial potential of Bunny-Man.”
Our opinion on the image of the rabbit man
It will be difficult for Bunny-Man not to be a comedy
Looking at the Bunny Man image taken out of context, one might think the image was a comedy parody. In the end, the costume is so similar to Batman’s that it almost looks like a satirical bunny-themed version in the classic DC villain. Unless marketing is hiding something important, it seems likely Bunny Man will adopt a truly dramatic approach. This will be difficult for Franco’s film to master, as audiences who saw The Dark Knight the trilogy and other major Batman films will likely weigh against these films.
