Sorry Demon Slayer fans, your most annoying character is actually my favorite

In some areas of the US, Demon Slayer fans, Zenitsu Agatsuma Considered to be the most famous character due to his intense outbursts and general state of anxiety and terror at all times. He’s certainly never one to hide his emotions, and his reactions can really be over the top and dramatized for comedic effect. However, contrary to popular opinion, Zenitsu has always been my favorite character in Demon Slayer.

As the story progressed, I felt that Zenitsu’s character was one of the most satisfying and exhibited the most positive growth. Of all these Demon Slayer Character, his change feels the most pronounced. He blossomed into almost an entirely new person through the Infinity Castle arc, improving not only his powers, but his mental and emotional resilience.

Demon Slayer's zenith cry with his bird

I love inspirational stories about self-improvement and working through life’s struggles, because these always feel relatable and motivating to me. Zenitsu’s journey is a perfect example of a hero starting out weak, however Became one of history’s greatest heroes through hard work.

Zenitsu is considered Demon Slayer’s Most annoying character, but I disagree

Zenitsu started demon slaying out of necessity and braved the challenge as best as he could

Zenitsu receives a lot of flak and negative comments For his behavior early in Demon Slayer. While I sympathize with some of the criticism, I can also see Zenitsu’s side. He was seriously in debt, with nowhere to turn other than the demon killing profession. Because he was deceived by a girl who he thought loved him, he was not only left with no money, but also heartbroken and abandoned by the person he thought he could trust. Demon slaying was not a career he wanted to pursue at all. He was pushed into the lifestyle of necessity.

Zenitsu rose to the challenge and turned to his work with all the courage he could muster, but killing monstrous beings still scared him. His reactions may be more pronounced than some of the other aspiring young demon slayers participating in the Demon Slayer Corps, but in many ways, His responses express what everyone else around him is thinking And feeling too. If I were put in Zenitsu’s position, I would be afraid and reluctant to perform such a difficult, violent task, so I feel sorry for Zenitsu and the tough circumstances in life that led him to demon killing.

Zenitsu’s self-improvement is on another level compared to his peers

He always had the courage to save others when necessary, and that makes him brave

Demon Slayer's Zenitsu attacks with his eyes closed, relying on his hearing

Zenitsu is often called a coward, and he undoubtedly has his cowardly moments. During the Tsuzumi Mansion arc, right after he was first introduced to the story, he was tasked with protecting two children while Tanjiro, Inosuke and himself tried to hunt down and kill the demon after the children’s lost brother. In these scenes, he was so open, scary, that the children themselves, with his demon-killing friends, asked themselves who he was. So petrified. His early appearances are certainly not his proudest or most powerful moments, and they accurately are Show how scared he was at the beginning of his career.

The only time Zennitsu didn’t yell, scream, or call out in fear was when he was fast asleep, and he was miraculously still able to perform attacks while unconscious. His thunder breathing was on another level while he slumbered away, allowing him to kill the Tongue Demon and the Spider Demon Sun, to name a few. I found it so remarkable that even though on surface level, Zenitsu seems like a character incapable of taking action, when the situation calls for his help, he always unleashes the power within himself to save those who need saving, every time.

Zenitsu’s Infinity Castle Arc appearances proved his dramatic change

He even fought Lord Musan, the strongest demon, which is a clear sign that he has grown a lot.

Through the Infinity Castle arc, Zenitsu is completely transformed. Those who doubt his positive progress need look no further His battle with Lord Muzan, the Demon King, Which is widely considered to be the strongest demon of all. Their fight dragged on for half an hour, with Zenitsu pulling out all the stops to keep his friends safe and make the villain pay for the way he hurt innocent people. Compared to the version of Zenitsu that was introduced in the first few episodes of demon slayer, This change in his behavior could not have been more drastic.

In just a few short seasons, Zenitsu has transformed from a petrified coward to someone who is able to overcome terror and protect himself and others. When he started out as a Demon Slayer, he could never imagine fighting against Musan, but he didn’t back down from the challenge later on. This is exactly why I like Zenitsu the best out of every character at Demon Slayer. Although he is flawed, he never tries to hide those parts of himself and instead works to improve and become better, That helped me root for him and cheer for his success.

Zenitsu’s character arc summarizes Demon Slayer’s Most important topics

He embodies the phrase “never give up,” powering through his fear to become a hero

Zenitsu Falling in the Infinity Castle

I also admire how willing Zenitsu is to risk his own life to protect others. He especially has a soft spot for Tanjiro’s sister, Nezuko Kamado. In various past battles, such as the fight with Enmu, he ensured no harm would come to Nezuko, despite his own fears. Zenitsu can be terror-stricken and unsure of himself most of the time, however He is also completely unwilling to give. Regardless of how terrifying the enemy is to him or how hopeless the fight seems, he never quits and throws down his Nishirin sword. Zenitsu could have quit demon killing, but he didn’t.

I can see why Znitsu’s abrasive personality and palpable fear might cause viewers to dislike him as a character. But personally, I will always see him as one of Demon Slayer’s Best written heroes that perfectly represent the key themes of the series. He achieves some of the greatest feats in history, and through his final scenes, he battles mighty demons his season one could never have dreamed of facing. The journey of Zenitsu summarizes Demon Slayer’s Most critical values: never giving up, pushing past fear, and saving others, and that’s why I love him.
