Notice! Spoilers ahead for NCIS Season 22, Episode 4, ‘Sticks & Stones’.
Timothy McGee’s best replacement is clear in NCIS season 22, episode 4. Coming off a short year due to the two Hollywood strikes in 2023, CBS’s long procedural year has already been full of plot twists and interesting cases. All of this is mixed in with some personal stories, including the resolution of Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer’s breakup in NCIS season 21 finale, as well as Nick Torres’ surprising decision to date again. That said among everyone on Alden Parker’s team McGee is without a doubt the one having the most interesting year.
Node NCIS season 22 premiere, it was revealed that McGee was competing for the position of vice principal. Admittedly, this was a bit surprising considering he stopped taking over the MCRT after Leroy Jethro Gibbs retired to Naktok Bay, Alaska. He didn’t want to do administrative work and deal with paperwork. Still, you can’t blame him for wanting to climb the agency’s ladder. Ultimately, he was unable to secure the position despite his years of service with the organization. Despite this, however, NCIS Season 22, Episode 4, “Sticks & Stones” lays the groundwork for its successor MCRT.
NCIS Season 22 Episode 4 Proves Curtis Hubley Is Timothy McGee’s Best MCRT Replacement
Curtis remembers McProbie
As the MCRT tries to stop World War III from happening, they are faced with a familiar adversary – the FBI, in NCIS season 22, episode 4. The team races against time to decode a message that could have defused the tension and prevented the situation from escalating. With Knight and Palmer out of officeand advised not to return to the Navy Yard, the cast brings in Curtis, marking his first appearance of the new year. He helps Kasie Hines with the case and provides the technical support that Parker and McGee needed at MTAC.
When his superiors are arrested for defying orders, Curtis continues to work to stop the FBI’s work on NCIS season 22, episode 4. He even hides in MTAC and works on its computer to lock down the system and preserve Parker’s orders. He is finally found, but Curtis’s brand of loyalty to MCRT, general demeanor, not to mention his computer skills are reminiscent of McGee during his rookie days. Because of this, the show effectively backs him to be the perfect contemporary of Sean Murray’s character.
NCIS needs to feature Curtis more prominently in light of McGee’s current situation
McGee might take Curtis under his wing
McGee may not have gotten the promotion he wanted, but that doesn’t mean his attempt to climb the agency ladder is over. NCIS awarded the position to former DOJ inspector Gabriel LaRoche – a new character introduced in season 22. Since his promotion, however, the new deputy director has barely been missed on the show, although he is expected to play an important role throughout the rest of the show. year. In addition to McGee being more deserving of the spot, LaRoche is also a suspected NCIS mole. If he is caught, Murray’s character could eventually be given his post.
Perhaps, NCIS season 22 could even promote a mentor/mentee relationship between McGee and Curtis.
This opens up a spot for Curtis to be a more prominent member of Parker’s MCRT. NCIS should gradually ease him into becoming a main cast member — much like it did when it introduced McGee as a recurring character in “Sub Rosa.” Doing so would make your transition to potentially being a full-time member of the MCRT smoother. It also helps viewers get used to him as the team’s new coach. Perhaps, NCIS season 22 could even promote a mentor/mentee relationship between McGee and Curtis.
Will Sean Murray Really Leave NCIS?
Murray is the longest-serving active NCIS cast member
There is currently no comment on Murray’s departure from NCIS. Typically, he announces the cast’s departure in advance to liven up their swan songs. Since Murray is the longest-serving active cast member of NCIS, the writers and producers would like to give him a proper send-off when the time finally comes for him to leave. That being said, McGee’s current arc in NCIS Season 22 presents big problems for the show. Keeping him at MCRT for a few more years will seem unfair considering his experience. That being said, any kind of promotion will mean he will have to leave Parker’s team.
Whatever the case with McGee, it’s clear he’s outgrown his role as senior field agent. There’s no way to keep NCIS to continue the show as is, but the character vying for a promotion opens up the question that there is almost no room to move up in the team, considering how small he is. Maybe giving him a protégé in Curtis might rejuvenate his arc, but other than that, NCIS needs to make an important decision about McGee.
