Ahsoka’s Chilling Theory Reveals How Sabine and Shin Fit the Mortis God Pattern

One Star Wars theory suggests Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Mortis Gods could be returning to the screen in Ahsoka Season 2, which could spell trouble for fan-favorite characters Shin Hati and Sabine Wren. Although the Mortis Gods had a brief arc in The Clone Warsthey captured the imagination of many viewers. In The Clone WarsAnakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Obi-Wan Kenobi crash-landed on the planet Mortis and nearly lost their lives, Ahsoka in particular.

The Mortis Gods comprised the Father, Daughter, and Son, who represented balance in the Force, the light side of the Force, and the dark side of the Force, respectively. At the end of the arc, all three Mortis Gods were dead and all three Jedi had their memories erased; however, the Mortis Gods continued to be important, especially in Ahsoka Tano’s story Star Wars timelineand the next season of Ahsoka It would therefore be the perfect time to bring these characters back. Unfortunately, this could mean a cruel fate for Shin Hati and Sabine Wren.

Many believe Ahsoka set up a repeat of the Mortis pattern

The father, son and daughter may already be ready to return creatively

Ahsoka The first season was full of surprises, including the live-action return of Hayden Christensen in The World Between Worlds, which finally reunited Clone Wars-era Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano on screen. Christensen’s equally (if not more) important participation in Ahsoka revealed that Anakin could continue to be important in Star Warsmainly in Ahsoka Season 2, and may be directly linked to the Mortis Gods. Node Ahsoka end of season 1, Anakin appeared as a Force ghost on Perideataking care of Ahsoka.

With Anakin now in play as a Force ghost, many have begun to wonder if Anakin, Ahsoka, and Baylan Skoll will form the new God Father, Daughter, and Son Mortis pattern in Star Wars. This would make sense for a number of reasons. On the one hand, the Mortis Gods remained directly linked to Ahsoka. This is partly due to Ahsoka’s connection to the Daughter.

Many have begun to wonder if Anakin, Ahsoka, and Baylan Skoll will form the new God Father, Daughter, and Son Mortis pattern in Star Wars.

In The Clone WarsAhsoka was killed by the Son in Mortis, but the Daughter had Anakin transfer his remaining life force to Ahsoka, bringing her back to life. It is for this reason that Morai, a summoned woman with a spiritual connection to the Daughter, has consistently appeared with Ahsoka in Star Wars after this event. Some have even speculated that Morai could be the personification of the Daughter herself, as, in Star Wars RebelsAhsoka curiously tells Ezra Bridger that she owes her life to Morai.

THE Ahsoka The show also seems like the perfect opportunity for the return of the Deus Mortis, not only because Ahsoka Tano is the titular character, but also because the show has already incorporated the heavy iconography of the Deus Mortis, mainly tied to Baylan Skoll. At the end of Ahsoka Season 1 actually Baylan was shown atop a huge statue of the Father. It appears that Baylan Skoll’s mission on Peridea is some kind of search for information about the Mortis Gods.

One tragic real-life consideration that has brought this into question is the death of Baylan Skoll actor Ray Stevenson, who passed away before the show aired in 2023. It is unclear whether Star Wars will recast Baylan or how Ahsoka will move forward in light of this loss. Stevenson was loved by both his co-stars and the fanbase, and it’s clear that his arc would be the main focus in Ahsoka Season 2, leaving many questions hanging in the air.

Despite the uncertainty, that Star Wars theory suggests that Anakin, Ahsoka and Baylan perfectly reflect the dynamics of the Mortis Gods. Like an ex-Jedi turned ex-Sith turned Force ghost, perhaps no other Star Wars character is better positioned to represent the Father, keeping the Force in balance, than Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka, as a powerful light-side Force user (and recently transformed into ‘Ahsoka the White’) and Jedi who holds the Daughter’s life force within her, is the perfect replacement for her as well.

Maybe no other Star Wars character is better positioned to represent the Father, keeping the Force in balance, than Anakin Skywalker.

Baylan Skoll is also a perfect replacement for Son. Although Baylan initially seemed more akin to a ‘Dark Jedi’, as he clearly still held the Jedi in high regard despite everything, Star Wars confirmed that Baylan Skoll is aligned with the dark side of the Force. This means that Baylan would be a good fit for the Son, who embodies the dark side of the Force, but would be complex, just as the Son likely was.

Sabine and Shin don’t fit the Mortis pattern

If Ahsoka is building towards this Mortis Gods standard… Where do Shin and Sabine fit in?

Notably, two main characters of Ahsoka which are also currently on Peridea do not fit this pattern of Mortis Gods. Rebels returning character Sabine Wren and new Star Wars Additionally, Shin Hati (who has proven incredibly popular) are trapped on Peridea along with their respective masters, Ahsoka and Baylan, but would have no place in this triad. This is particularly intriguing given that, at the end of the Ahsoka In season one, Ahsoka tells Sabine that they are exactly where they are supposed to be.

If this is the case, however, it complicates the Deus Mortis theory considerably. It’s unclear what role Sabine and Shin could play if Anakin, Ahsoka, and Baylan’s parts in this story were so clearly defined. This could mean very bad news for Shin and Sabine, who could be about to fall victim to one of the most terrifying characters of all time. Star Wars—in canon or legends.

Could Shin and Sabine be victims of Abeloth?

Star Wars’ Most Terrifying Villain Could Seal Sabine and Shin’s Fate

Abeloth in Star Wars Legends showing his disturbing toothy smile

Although she didn’t show up The Clone Wars, Abeloth is the Mother of the Mortis Godsand she is far more terrifying than the Son – in fact, she is far more terrifying than some of her children. Star Wars most powerful Sith. So far, Abeloth has not become part of the Star Wars canon, but it seems quite possible that this is about to change with Ahsoka 2nd season. Star Wars Legends also revealed how devastating such an introduction would be.

Unlike the Father, the Son and the Daughter, the Mother was initially mortal. This is because she actually started out as a servant of the Ones, but eventually became the Mother, helping the Father maintain the balance between the Son and Daughter (i.e. the dark and light sides of the Force). Since she was mortal and the Mortis Gods were not, she began to age while they remained the same. This led her to drink from the Fountain of Power and bathe in the Well of Knowledge.

These acts transformed and corrupted her, granting her the immortality she sought, but also twisting her toward evil. She ended up losing the very family she was desperate to keep, as the Father, Daughter, and Son left her abandoned after her transformation into Abeloth, and eventually, because of the threat she posed, the Son and Daughter imprisoned her. Peridea could very well be the perfect planet to function as Abeloth’s prison.

This could precisely be Baylan Skoll’s mission: to find and free Abeloth.

If Ahsoka season two actually introduces Abeloth and confirms that Peridea is his prison, this could be exactly Baylan Skoll’s mission: to find and free Abeloth. This could also be how Shin Hati and Sabine Wren come into play in the larger story of Mortis Gods. Abeloth was known to possess others, and Shin and Sabine are perfectly positioned to be his victims..

Of course, most of this remains speculative. Ahsoka The first season certainly dropped a number of hints that the Mortis Gods are coming, but they haven’t officially confirmed that yet, let alone confirmed that Abeloth will become canon or Anakin, Ahsoka, and Baylan are the new standard Mortis Gods. Even so, signs currently point to the return of the Mortis Gods in Ahsoka Season 2, which could be great news for Star Wars and it has huge implications for Sabine Wren and Shin Hati.
