Although aspects of Batman’s myth have changed over time, the facts have largely remained the same. But for Scott Snyder’s biggest move yet, Absolute Batman is dismantling the entire origin of Bruce Wayne to create a new journey to the iconic identity. The Absolute Universe’s purpose is new storytelling, as it headlines the new DC All in Initiative.
Scott Snyder’s return to DC comes in partnership with Absolute Batman Artist Nick Dragotta, officially launched on October 9, 2024. Absolute Batman Bruce is inspired by a younger generation
Schneider looked to young people, including his own children, to lead Absolute Batmans motivation.
Scott Snyder discussed being inspired by the younger people he saw standing up and asking for a better world than the one handed to them. While Bruce normally operated only from a justice standpoint, Absolute Batman Will feature A Bruce Wayne powered by the youthful belief that the systems themselves can be changed. This is what sets him apart from other variations of Batman.
While other versions of Batman dealt with Gotham’s corruption to keep the streets clean, Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne’s will be different. Instead, he will be a young Batman who steps into the role with the motivation to change what he and the rest of Gotham see as wrong. Snyder described Bruce as an “idealistic, pathetic kid” who will refuse to accept that Gotham is unchanged. A good new look for the iconic character.

Absolutely Bruce will have the same moral rules
Despite his youth, Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne already knows his moral lines.
While Batman’s tactics have fluctuated over time, one thing remains the same in the Absolute Universe as in the main one: Bruce does not kill, and he does not use a gun. What sets Batman apart from the other big characters who take over Gotham’s night are the strict rules he follows, something Batman carries with him everywhere he goes. Snyder said that Absolute BatmanBruce’s will still follow the same famous moral code.
In the main DC Universe, Batman’s rules became the cornerstone of his identity when the former Robin, Jason Todd, began to clean up the streets by ignoring both rules, causing a family disagreement that has extended into the modern day. Absolute BatmanBruce’s may not have any sidekicks yet, but his rules are in place. No matter what universe he is in, Batman will always stand for justice.

Absolute Batman grew up in crime alley, not a mansion
Absolute BatmanBruce didn’t grow up in the safety of Wayne Manor.
One of the biggest changes to Absolute BatmanBruce’s comes directly from his upbringing, as Snyder shares Absolute BatmanS Bruce grew up on the opposite side of Gotham: Crime Alley. Batman devotees will know that Crime Alley was the infamous place where the main universe’s Bruce lost his parents.
If growing up rich and separated from the rest of Gotham provided DC’s iconic Bruce Wayne with a certain perspective and skills, growing up in Crime Alley is bound to make a change in his heart. More than a shocking redesign, it’s clear that this Batman was produced differently from the start.

Absolutely Bruce Wayne is an engineer, first and foremost
Instead of being a detective, Absolute Batman Bruce will be an engineer.
Deep down, at heart, Bruce is a detective. But in Absolute Batman, Bruce Wayne’s thinking will be based on engineering. As opposed to detective work on cases that the police cannot handle, Bruce will be more focused on the changes he builds firsthand, and the systems he grows from the ground up.
Snyder teased that the repeated idea in Absolute Batman Is that Bruce “built” Batman, making him less of a persona Bruce uses to do what the billionaire playboy can’t, and more of a project Bruce has undertaken to make changes in Gotham City.

Absolutely Batman would hate Frank Miller’s Dark Knight
Where other Batmans are pessimistic, Absolute BatmanBruce’s will be filled with idealism.
On the subject of Absolute BatmanSnyder called his new Bruce Wayne the opposite of Frank Miller’s Batman, as famously in the old, pessimistic. The Dark Knight returns. Go as far as saying Absolute BatmanBruce would hate Frank Miller’s Batman For his perspective, there is no clear illustration of the optimism that Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne will lead in it.
Bruce Wayne is often written to be tired with a desperate outlook on Gotham’s future. In the Absolute Universe, Bruce will instead step forward to represent the injection of hope that his city needs.

Absolute Batman grew up (and is still in touch) with Gotham’s villains
Growing up in Crimea Alley surrounded Bruce with a thug-filled neighborhood.
By placing Bruce in Crime Alley, Snyder is able to surround Bruce with things he didn’t have before: childhood friends, a neighborhood, and a past that will haunt his future as Batman. It was revealed during his panel that Bruce not only grew up alongside many of Gotham’s future infamous villains – including Harvey Dent and Waylon Jones – but is still in touch with themSomething that will no doubt be a factor in the emotional arc Snyder has planned if Bruce is to face off against his former childhood friends.
Snyder shared this part of Absolute Batman Would touch on the part of life that is watching people that you can go in very different directions. While the main universe’s Bruce Wayne often runs into people he has a history with, Absolute Batman Is upgrading this element to the next level.

Absolute Batman learned from villains, instead of mentors and masters
In addition to having many jobs, Bruce learned from his future opponents.
Thanks to growing up in crime alley, Bruce never got the opportunity to travel the world and learn highly refined skills from ancient teachings. Instead, all the skills that readers will see on this page come from the people around him in Crime Alley. Snyder said that Bruce is able to work with and learn skills from all over Gotham, with help from the villains he grew up with. In doing so, Bruce gained access to a whole other part of Gotham his main universe counterpart did not.
While the path Absolute BatmanBruce’s whereabouts are still a mystery, Snyder shared that Bruce learned how to fight with Killer Croc, he studied politics with Harvey Dent at City Hall, and learned the inner workings of the criminal underground with the Penguin. How Bruce will apply these skills is yet to be seen, but it is already clear that Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne’s will work with a completely new skills that are not seen in the Batman myth.

Alfred Figures Out Absolute Batman is actually Bruce Wayne
Nick Dragotta’s cover for ADefinitely Batman #2 A confrontation ensues between Alfred and Bruce.
horrible, Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne won’t grow up with an Alfred Pennyworth; instead, Alfred Pennyworth will appear much later in Bruce’s life as an MI6 agent Sent to investigate crime in Gotham. Although their bond won’t be the same father-son relationship readers are used to, Snyder mentions that Alfred will still have a role to play in Bruce’s story: mainly as an outsider who sees Bruce for who he really is.
Alfred will serve as a foil to Bruce’s perspective. As Snyder hinted, the two will butt heads when it comes to whether Bruce can really change something as old and ingrained as Gotham’s power structure. Snyder was careful not to give too much away, but hopefully Bruce will win Alfred over as an ally, as his idealism pits him against Gotham’s worst.

Absolute Batman works as a city engineer during the day
Being a billionaire doesn’t hurt Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne’s.
Which hit the hardest when the first covers for Absolute Batman What stood out was the size of Bruce’s figure, a strong body that matched the thick insignia he wore on his chest. Snyder had an explanation for Bruce’s bulky figure in his panel, explaining that Bruce works as a city engineer in constructionTherefore, leaving him to be unnoticed. It also gives him working access to large swaths of the city.
Snyder explained that since Absolute BatmanBruce will not have to play the role of a billionaire, he is allowed to become much bigger than a man and use this to his advantage as Batman. Working in the city is a far cry from being CEO of Wayne Industries, but there’s an additional distinction to being a city engineer in construction. Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne’s will have a lot of advantages that other Bruce Wayne do not.

Absolute Batman is ultimately a man of the people
Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne knows Gotham from every angle.
Although it never stopped Batman from saving people in danger, there is no denying that all the changes that Snyder and Dragota made mean This Batman is arguably the hero Gotham City has long deserved: A true man of the people. From working in construction, to growing up surrounded by Gotham’s future villains, to living in the heart of the city, Absolute Batman Gave Bruce everything his main Earth counterpart lacked. He is not removed anymore on any level from the people of Gotham.
Snyder hinted at a possible invasion of Gotham that Bruce won’t back down from. I look at everything Snyder has teased for what’s to come Absolute BatmanIt is truly his biggest creative move to date. Absolute Batman Will lead the charge in DC’s new All in initiative, opening the Absolute Universe to readers, and it promises a very different experience in a familiar but unfamiliar Gotham City. like Absolute BatmanBruce Wayne’s story unfolds will no doubt be a shock.
