What happened in One Piece episode #1121?
Produced by Toei Animation; Directed by Sho Matsui
One piece Episode #1121, “Garp and Kuzan – A master and a disciple’s beliefs clash,” continued Garp and SWORD’s battle against the Blackbeard Pirates to save Coby. Garp easily defeated both Sanjuan Wolf and Vasco Shot, and with all the civilians and injured Marines safely on board, it was finally time to leave Pirate Island. But , Kobi was tricked into thinking there was still a civilian on the island, and because of this, Garp was dealt a major wound by Shiryu while trying to protect Kobi.
Garp was badly injured by Shiryu, and to make matters worse, Kuzan returned to the fight after seemingly being taken out of commission. As they met again, Garp and Kuzan reflected on their decades-long master-student relationshipStarting with Cousin forcing his way into Garp’s training method of using battleships as sandbags before they gradually grew closer and Cousin became a trusted confidant. In the present, Garp and Kuzan both declared an end to their relationship, and a strong punch from both parties sent them both flying more injured than ever.
With Garp seemingly down for the count, Avalo Pizarro declared that it was over for the Marines, and in an attempt to get his own name in the news, Pizarro used his Isle-Isle Fruit to build a giant arm of Pirate Island and moved to crush Garp’s ship. Coby panicked, thinking they were all doomed, but Garp, still conscious, assured him that they would win because justice would always prevail, and episode #1121 ended on that note.
One Piece’s Anime continues to make Garp & Kuzan’s friendship as tragic as possible
As with previous episodes, One piece Episode #1121 has a lot more to flesh out Garp and Kuzan’s relationship compared to the mangaTheir flashback was greatly expanded with additional content and fluid animation to add further contrast with their action, and they even included a moment of Garp and Kuzan seeing younger versions of each other in their final clash. All of this adds much more impact to their conflict compared to the manga, and this is another prime example of how good it is One pieces filler content can be.
