Lincoln’s lawyer creator and co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez explained how Mickey Haller’s arrest at the end of Season 3 will impact Season 4. Lincoln’s lawyer Season 3 ended with Mickey (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) successfully exonerating Julian La Cosse (Devon Graye) from charges that he killed Gloria Dayton (Fiona Rene). He also managed to sue the city for the injuries Julian suffered in a prison murder attempt. While driving home after celebrating with his team, he is stopped by a police officer, who arrests him after discovering the body of Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton) in his trunk.
Talking to Screen speech about the show, Rodriguez explained how Mickey’s arrest will lead to Lincoln’s lawyer Season 4, expected to adapt The Law of Innocence from the book series by Michael Connelly. The co-showrunner also teased that Lorna (Becki Newton) will be his partner in defending himwith her rising to prominence as she tries to help her boss while keeping the law firm alive. Check out what RodrÃguez said below:
Yes, I think that’s the big problem. You saw how we ended the season with Mickey. Mickey will be accused of murder and everyone seems very excited about it. So Season 4 is The Law of Innocence, and she’s his partner. This is the biggest, most stressful case of their entire lives, and she’s a green lawyer. It’s just up to her to figure out how much she can take on, what place she has in the co-counseling role with him, and also keep the business running while he can’t take any other clients to prison.
I think you’ll see a Lorna who has a lot of balls in the air, trying her best to keep all those balls in the air and succeeding in doing so. I think that’s where we’re going with her.
What Dailyn Rodriguez’s Statement Means for Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
The dynamics of the show will change as Mickey goes on trial
Although Lincoln’s lawyer Season 4 has not yet been confirmed by Netflix at the time of writing, Rodriguez has a clear plan for how the series will evolve. Lorna’s inclusion makes sense, given that season three focused on her passing the California Bar Exam and becoming a defense attorney alongside Mickey during Julian’s case. She also proved to be incredibly resourceful in this regard, citing the law with an almost photographic memory and using it to advance the case. This makes her the perfect defense for the show’s lead role following her arrest.
This shift in focus means more development for Lorna going forward, alongside all of Mickey’s other team members as they try to operate their legal office without him. As they try to keep the lights on, the titular protagonist will also need to find a way to defend himself from within, no doubt helping his colleague free him from false murder charges. While it’s unclear how deep the conspiracy surrounding his arrest will be, Lincoln’s lawyerCharacters will have many ways to get their boss out of his life-threatening situation.
Our take on what to expect from The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
It’s the perfect evolution of the legal drama
Mickey’s arrest will offer a very different take on the series’ formula during Season 4, leading to a unique storyline that plays with the series’ typical expectations. Because of this, the show’s unique investigation into Lorna having to handle the case differently due to her boss’s inability means there will be a lot of interesting changes to their dynamic as the series continues. With plenty of new ideas ready for a sequel, it seems Lincoln’s lawyer Season 4 might be the most exciting part of the series yet.
