Batman’s most underrated (and possibly best) novel is finally back

Batman He has had many great love interests over the years. While his two biggest love interests have always been the cat anti-heroine and Talia al Ghul, there’s another couple that’s barely talked about—this time with another superhero. Now DC is finally bringing the relationship back in a terrifying new storyline.

On the preview pages Batman: Full Moon #1 Written by Rodney Barnes and Steven Subic, readers see Batman battle a gang of arms dealers. But the most amazing thing is that Batman missed his date with Zatanna Zatara for this. While the two characters have been romantically involved in the past, it’s surprising to see them again since DC rarely touches on this romance.

This relationship has always been greatly underrated, and it’s nice to see DC bringing it back, even if it’s just for this one story. While Batman has had plenty of iconic love interests over the years, Justice League Dark’s Zatanna always felt like someone who wasn’t explored as much as she deserved.

DC Finally Explains Why Batman's Romance With Zatanna Never Worked

Zatanna has always been a great match for Batman. One of the main things that sets Zatanna apart from Batman’s other love interests is the fact that she knew Bruce before he became Batman. Both Talia al Ghul and Selina Kyle met Bruce as the Dark Knight. They didn’t see the man under the hood until later, and it was always secondary to Batman’s mission. But Zatanna knew Bruce as a teenager. They both met when they were quite young and Bruce studied escapology with her father Giovanni.

Bruce Wayne buried much of his personality to become the Dark Knight, but Zatanna saw the humanity he constantly tries to hide from everyone else. She was there before Bruce created the idealized personality he uses to fight crime, and so she not only sees aspects of him that no one else sees, but Batman himself doesn’t feel the need to put on a show for her.. Their shared focus on superheroism means they understand each other on a level that their other love interests don’t. Catwoman and John Constantine are rogues and don’t quite understand what it means to work with the Justice League to keep Earth safe.

Batman needs Zatanna for this specific mission

The Dark Knight’s inexperience with magic is his main weakness.

Zatanna being chosen as the love interest for this story is probably not a coincidence. Batman is a genius, but he is at his best when he operates in the rational world. Batman has never been good at magic, but magic is Zatanna’s whole world. The werewolf is a supernatural threat, and while werewolves’ weaknesses are well known, there may be some magical rules at play that Batman isn’t aware of. This makes the update Zatanna And BatmanTheir romance is even more exciting because lives are on the line if they can’t work together effectively.
