Green Lantern Kilowog has not been seen since his presumed death in Green Lantern #7 – Written by Jeremy Adams, with art by Amancay Nahuelpan – at the beginning of this year. In the story, Hal Jordan and Kilowog were tasked with accompanying Lord Premier Tharos to negotiate a treaty with the Sinestro Corps, but the meeting was a trap. Kilowog fought the Sinestro Corps and was ultimately caught in the explosion of their main power battery. Now, it seems the explosion didn’t kill Kilowog after all, and he’s instead making his long-awaited return — except as a Yellow Lantern.

According to the solicitation for this special issue, Thaaros has enlisted Kilowog to buy John Stewart’s Dark Star Ring for him. This is a continuation of Thaaros’ plan to rule the entire emotional spectrum with one all-powerful Core ruling over the United Planets. The Dark Star Ring would give Tharos godlike power, making him unstoppable; With Kilowog switching sides to help him in this plot, it’s up to his former Green Lantern allies to stop him.

Kilowog made his first appearance as a Green Lantern in 1986’s Green Lantern Corps #201, and since his debut, he has proven to be a steadfast ally of Earth’s Lanterns. His sudden betrayal upends decades of friendship with Green Lanterns like Hal Jordan and John Stewart, and their dynamic may never be the same. War is brewing in the DC cosmos as Thaaros makes his first big move against John Stewart. with Kilogram on the opposite side, Green Lantern is about to have a fight unlike any other on his hands.
