The long-awaited sequel to Pathological 2 has been announced and is set to release at some point in 2025. Pathological Gained a cult following when it was first released in 2005 for bringing a different kind of horror to players. Developed by Russia-based Buka Entertainment and localized into English by G2 Games and GMX Games, the title created a sense of existential dread and created moral and philosophical conundrums for players to experience.
Pathological 2 Was meant to be a remaster of the original game, but it grew in scope throughout its development. When it was released in 2019, it was a mix between a remaster and a new game, bringing only one chapter of the first game to new players. now, Pathological 3 appeared on SteamPromised to continue the story Five years after his predecessor.
Pathologic 3 will reimagine the original story from a drastically different perspective
Play the new and improved Bachelor’s Route
Pathological Tells the story of a strange town that is overtaken by a deadly plague. Players can choose between three characters, The Bachelor, Haruspecs and Changeling, Each with their own personality, approach to the problem and role to play in the story. The strange plot must be teamed out of the strange residents of the city, an experience that can leave players scratching their heads in confusion. The third installment in the series seems to try to find a middle ground between the original vision for the game and making it more accessible to new players.

The announcement trailer (viewable on Steam) shows a man watching a projector show a series of strange and disconnected videos, including a hanged man, children playing, a city on fire, an ominous structure, a partially naked woman, and more dark Pictures. The video then cuts to a woman being burned at the stake. The videos are accompanied by the text: “… Yes, but that will happen yesterday. …and this already happened tomorrow. No, that’s not how it went at all.

Pathological is more of a philosophical experience than a game
Thoughts on Utopia
Pathological was far from a perfect game, with its clunky controls, long dialogues, and brutal survival mechanics. In addition to the usual hunger and exhaustion meters that are staples of the survival genre, players are also tasked with maintaining their thirst levels, infection and reputation. Fighting is difficult and non-intuitive, and generally best avoided at all costs. It’s not an easy game to play, but this gruesome difficulty level is by design. The world portrayed in Pathological is unforgiving and so, by extension, is the game.
Although the difficulty level is a necessary part of the game, it is definitely not for everyone. The original game was described as incredibly important and not fun to play. The third game in the series looks just as strange as the previous two. This time, however, I hope that it is at least a little more accessible to the general public, making it more playable without sacrificing all the elements that made it the unique experience that it was. There is no official release date yet, however Pathological 3 Will release on Steam sometime in 2025.
