Animal Crossing has seen its share of cosplays over the years, but one fan’s rendition of Isabelle and Tom Nook is more high-fashion than costume. Both characters have been mainstays of the series, and are instantly recognizable by any fan for their distinct designs.
The always happy Isabelle is a yellow dog character based on the Shih Tzu breed, while the businessman Tom Nook is based on the Japanese raccoon dog, a tanuki. It seems like it would be hard to recognize the two without their animal elements, however Mayalcaulfield On Reddit has found a way to depict them in human form.
The redditor shares two real-world outfits based on Isabelle and Tom Nook. Isabelle has her signature orange skirt and green skirt, as well as her blonde hair, with a top bun and side ponytails to symbolize her ears. Their version of Tom Nook wears khaki dress pants, a white shirt with a red tie, and a green vest on top. Although not using the animal characteristics, Both are excellent portrayals of the beloved Animal Crossing Letters.
How Disneybounding influenced the animal across fashion
It is clear what letters are depicted
Mayalcaulfield’s creations aren’t so much cosplay as Animal Crossing-inspired fashion. It’s clear at a glance which characters the redditor is inspired by, thanks to The colors, the clothes, the hair, and even the poses. Although they do not mention this in the post, the Animal Crossing Outfits are reminiscent of Disneybounding.

The practice of Disneybounding involves dressing up in outfits that are heavily inspired by recognizable Disney characters, which started because Disney could not allow visitors to attend its Disneyland and Disneyworld locations in costume. Instead, fans use everyday clothing to “dress up” as their character of choice without breaking Disney’s rules. Mayalcaulfield’s Animal Crossing Photos have the same idea, Creating a recognizable look without a full costume.
We’d love to see more Animal Crossing-inspired fashion
Why hasn’t there been a real-world fashion crossover yet?
Animal Crossing Has so many adorable outfits, and I’ve seen several YouTubers recreate their characters’ in-game outfits in real life. however, It has yet to be an official collaboration between Nintendo and an actual clothing brand (As far as I can tell from my research, anyway).
Companies like Pokemon Often collaborate with fashion brands, and I’m sure Animal Crossing Fans would also love to own some of their in-game clothing. It seems like that’s not in the cards, as Nintendo prepares for its next Animal Crossing Title.
