Warning: Contains potential spoilers for TITANS #15!
The dawn of DC has undeniably become the era of the Titans. Not only have they replaced the Justice League, but they have now also defeated their greatest villain – one too powerful even for Superman to handle. With the Nightwing-led team now at their peak, the question arises: What’s next for the Titans? Will they continue to rise, or are they destined to stagnate? We have the definitive answer.
It is clear that the Titans will also be among those who join the new iteration of the Justice League.
The Dark-winged Queen Storyline reaches its epic conclusion in Tom Taylor, Lucas Meyer and Adriano Lucas’ Titans #15. In this issue, fans witness Raven and the Titans face off against both her father, Trigon, and her dark adversary, the Dark-Winged Queen. With both villains considered “extinction level” Threats, the Titans call in reinforcements from across the DCU, including the Man of Steel himself.
However, Trigon quickly takes Superman down with a single blow, demonstrating that even the Man of Steel is no match for his power. This makes the Titans’ eventual defeat of Trigon all the more remarkable, as they succeeded where even Superman could not.
The Titans make DC history by defeating Trigon after the demon one-shots Superman
Is Trigon really gone for good? (If he returns, don’t expect to see him anytime soon)
Titans #15 takes an unexpected turn when Animal Boy mediates a conversation between the two ravens, leading the empaths to reconcile their differences and merge into a singular, complete version of themselves. However, even as one, Raven lacks the power to defeat her father on her own. To overcome this, she temporarily forges her fellow Titans into Soul Gems, creating a crown that amplifies her abilities and allows her to channel the powers of the entire team. With this newfound strength, Raven beats her father back and eventually delivers the final blow, impaling Trigon with his own axe.
After freeing the Titans from their gem forms, Raven reassures Nightwing that she did not kill her father, explaining that “Demons Don’t Die”– They just disappear. Despite the technicalities of her statement, it is clear that Trigon is, for all intents and purposes, defeated. Although the Titans have defeated him before, this feels like a more permanent end for the Overlord of Hell. Still, in the realm of DC’s comic logic, Trigon’s return is always a possibility. Even if he does come back, however, it probably won’t be soon as he’s recovered from “disappear” is a process that would take considerable time.

The Titans replace the Justice League and defeat their biggest villain in the same era
The dawn of DC was the era of the Titans
DC’s Dawn hasn’t even reached its two-year mark, but in that time, the Titans have replaced the Justice League as DC’s premier superhero team and defeated their greatest villain. Trigon has played a central role in the Titans story since Raven’s introductionHow he constantly interferes in her life, trying to control her great power. His interference has often posed a significant threat to the world, making him one of the Titans’ most prominent and persistent enemies, rivaled only by Deathstroke.
The fact that the Titans defeated Trigon in under two years of stepping up to replace the Justice League is monumental. In comparison, the Justice League’s journey to becoming DC’s chief protectors and their eventual triumph over their own greatest enemy, Darkseid, took much longer. The rapid rise underscores that Dawn of DC has truly become the era of the Titans. However, with Tom Taylor’s Titans Run now completed and DC’s ALL IN initiative beginning, fans are left wondering: What’s next for the Titans?
The Titans are officially joining the Justice League (and it’s about time)
