10 Best Isekai Anime Like KonoSuba

KonoSuba: God’s blessing to this wonderful world! is the funniest isekai series of all time. It has one of most frustratingly adorable cast of charactersa world full of mystery and some of the best writing in anime, all genres included. When Satou Kazuma is transported to his new world, he can bring anything with him. When the Goddess Aqua laughs at him during this process, he decides to take her instead, creating a hilarious dynamic in the first episode.

To be a big show like KonoSuba, an isekai series needs to have some element of humor. It also needs to have good animation and at least decent writing. Although no program can really compare with KonoSuba outrageous humorsome may come close. Still, there are plenty of isekai series out there that are great for those who love watching Kazuma, Darkness, Aqua, and Megumin pave their way to success.

Tsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasy

Animated by C2C, based on the Light Novel series written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto

Tsukimichi: Moonlight Fantasy and another great and funny isekai series. Misumi Makoto was transported to his new world, but the Goddess who brought him there found him too ugly to be of use. She took away his ability to communicate with other humans (called hyhumans in the new world) and sent him to the wilderness furthest from civilization. Over time, he becomes one of the strongest characters in Tsukimichigaining a large group of secondary characters who support him in everything.

Satou Kazuma and Misumi Makoto don’t have much in common on the surface. Makoto is incredibly domineering, while Kazuma has died multiple times in his own series. Still, they both found a place for themselves in their new worlds. They trust the characters around them when they’re not quite sure what’s going on, and they are both much better for it.

Creator(s)

Kohta Hirano

Derivatives and an unbalanced isekai seriesto say the least. It’s from the same creator as Hellsing Ulitmate and his style can be found in both series. Derivatives is a series that features the titular Drifters as they find their way to a new world and a new war. Each of the Drifters is a warrior from a different time period, creating a unique mix of characters not found in other anime. They fight together voraciously, striking down their enemies with great graphic violence.

Derivatives It’s darkly funny. It’s not for the faint of heart, and that’s what makes the series so good. While KonoSuba has a relatively clean comedy, apart from some obscene moments, Derivatives It couldn’t be dirtier. The characters swear so much that sailors would be impressed. The mood in Derivatives is found everywhere, making it a decent comparison to the hilarity that is KonoSuba.

Fantasy Grimgar and Ash

Animated by A-1 Pictures, based on the Light Novel series written by Ao Jūmonji and illustrated by Eiri Shirai

Fantasy Grimgar and Ash it’s probably the most realistic isekai series out there. It features a cast of normal, unassuming characters as they are drawn into a world of power and magic. They are completely unprepared for the experience, and it shows. While most isekai series may give the main characters exciting powers or a new way to adapt to their world, Grimgar specifically no. It features brutal, realistic moments that viewers can’t help but identify with. It is one of the darkest animes of all time.

KonoSuba is much happier than Grimgar, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good comparisons. Satou Kazuma has some magical abilities, but is not as strong as most isekai characters. He’s a normal guy, just trying to live his life in a strange new world, similar to the cast of Grimgar. He also has no one to trust other than his new friends, leaning on them whenever he doesn’t know what’s going on.

Kemono Michi

Animated by ENGI, based on the manga written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Mattakumo-suke and Yumeuta

The cast of Kemono Michi: Rise Up poses together, looking happy and excited.

Kemono Michi It’s another series by the same writer KonoSuba, Natsume Akatsuki. In fact, it happened a few years after he wrote KonoSuba, giving it more timeliness than the author’s previous series. Kemono Michi It’s as absurd as KonoSuba, and that’s what makes it so good. When famous fighter Genzo Shibata is transported to a new world, the world’s princess tasks him with becoming a Beast Killer, taking down all the beasts plaguing her kingdom.

As an animal lover, Genzo fulfills your request knocking out the princess with a German Suplex. As KonoSuba, Kemono Michi It’s hilarious from the start. It doesn’t waste time establishing its insane premise, and it’s better that way. Both series feature a unique isekai protagonist who goes against the grain, doing what he wants regardless of the consequences.

No game, no life

Animated by Madhouse, based on the Light Novel series by Yuu Kamiya

No game, no life and a cult classic of isekai anime. It’s been more than 10 years since the first season of the anime was adapted and fans are still waiting for more adaptations. Sora and Shiro are too smart for their own good. They are so smart that they can’t find anyone to beat them in online video games, forming teams like ‘Blank’ and winning every game they play. When they are transported to the world of Disboard, the duo couldn’t be happier.

Sora and Shiro finally have the opportunity to show off their skills on a world level and finally have worthy opponents. It’s another one of the funniest isekai series of all time thanks to great writing and a hilarious world in which the characters meet. Like Kazuma’s KonoSuba, Sora and Shiro can’t help but rely on their friends when things get tough. If it weren’t for Stephanie Dola, the pair would likely have no hope in their new world.

The main character of Combatants Will Be Dispatched running away from women smiling at him.

The series actually came out before KonoSuba, making it one of Akatsuki’s earliest works. The fighters will be dispatched! and another series with a solid premise from the beginning.

Re: Zero

Animated by White Fox, based on the Light Novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shin’ichirō Ōtsuka

Re: Zero it is easily one of the darkest animes out there. Natsuki Subaru was transported to her new world and given one of the anime’s most bittersweet powers, Return by Death. Although he can return to a predetermined point in time, allowing him to essentially rewrite reality, he has to die to do so. Each of his deaths is increasingly brutal, but even the death itself isn’t enough to keep Subaru grounded. He’s a cheerful character in a world full of depressing ones, and his always positive attitude is a great reason to watch the series.

It may not seem like it, but Re: Zero There are many funny moments. Subaru is always willing to laugh, even at his own expense, creating a fun and light-hearted environment for everyone. Surprisingly, Both Subaru and Kazuma have died more than a few timeswith Subaru’s deaths being much more serious.

The cautious hero is excessively cautious, as KonoSuba, is a series that benefits greatly from absurdity. The premise is great right away. When the Goddess Ristarte seeks a hero to save the world of Gaeabrande from a Demon Lord, she seeks out a group of potential heroes who can help her. She encounters Seiya Ryuuguuin, a hero with incredible stats, and enlists him to help her. Unfortunately for the Goddess, the hero is extremely cautious.

It’s a similar dynamic to Kazuma and Aqua in KonoSuba, since Aqua probably found the worst person for the job in Kazuma. Both series have a great dynamic between the Goddess and the ‘heroes’ she has summoned to her new world. The writing on both shows is funny, the animation is solid, and the story gets more and more interesting as either series progresses.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Animated by Eight Bit, based on the Light Novel series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and another solid isekai series. Rimuru Tempest was transported to a new world as a lowly slime with no real abilities. After some time, he becomes one of the strongest characters in his series, creating tons of new technologies for his nation, Tempest. He is a thoughtful leader, a strategic fighter, and a benefactor to the world. Although he and Kazuma don’t share many similarities in terms of characters, their series have many of the same themes.

Both shows are light-hearted. They never take themselves too seriously, except when one of Rimuru’s friends gets hurt. Aside from the occasional destruction of an entire army, Rimuru is a cool, laid-back leader who only wants the best for his troops and his people. Kazuma could learn a lot from how responsible the Great Storm Leader really is.

The Eminence in the Shadow is the best isekai series for those who want something close to KonoSuba. When Shadow was isekaied to his new world, he couldn’t have been happier. He spent his previous life on Earth trying to be the cool, enigmatic, titular Eminence in Shadow, but never quite made it. Now in your new world, He has the powers he always wanted. He is able to fly through the air, cast devastating “I Am Atomic” abilities, and lead the secretive Shadow Garden like a true man of mystery.

Like this KonoSuba, The Eminence in the Shadows and at its best when it’s absurd. It’s a solid comparison, as both series feature great writing, lots of powerful characters, and a main character so caught up in his own world that he doesn’t mind seeing the one outside of it. Although Kazuma relies on his companions a little more than Shadow, they both have great side characters willing to support them through thick and thin.
