Warning: This article contains spoilers for episode 5 of NCIS: Origins.Gibbs’ overreaction to NCIS: Origins episode 5 is a sad reminder of its recent past. Episode 5 revolves around an old cold case that Franks worked on before NIS. The perpetrator, Hope, will be executed soon, so the NCIS: Origins The characters are working under the pressure of solving the case before the killer’s time runs out. Hope promises to reveal the burial location of one of her victims if she talks to the victim’s sister. Although Franks opposes the deal at first, he gives in to Hope’s demands and plans to back out later.
As Franks and several NIS agents are led by Hope to the cemetery, Gibbs and Lala are ordered to block the road and not let anyone pass. While guarding, a car stops with two Mexicans inside. They start flirting with Lala, who tells them to turn around. As he observes the situation, Gibbs becomes increasingly agitated and draws his gun. Gibbs’ mental instability is central to the NCIS: Origins episode, and the NCIS spinoff revealed that Gibbs is no longer afraid of anything.
Gibbs went crazy on the Mexicans over Kelly and Shannon’s murder
Gibbs designed them
When Lala asked Gibbs why he escalated the situation, he said it was because he couldn’t understand them, to which Lala replied yes. But the real reason Gibbs overreacted is something else entirely. Gibbs’ overreaction in asking the two men to get out of the car instead of following Lala’s lead and asking them to get out is directly related to the murder of Shannon and Kelly. Gibbs is still trying to recover from the sudden deaths of his wife and daughterand he still faces confusing and overwhelming emotions.
In Mark Harmon’s narration, Gibbs also talked about how, when he was recovering from the injuries that occurred after he found out about his family’s death, he was seeing everyone’s faces in his in-between state. He was the only constant, and everyone else floated around in her mind. The only people he couldn’t see were his family’s killers. As such, Gibbs’ reaction to the two Mexicans may be the result of him projecting the faceless killers onto the men.. This would also explain why he escalated the situation so quickly, as he saw them as a threat.
Who Killed Gibbs’ Family on NCIS (and Will the Origins Show Them?)
NCIS has already shown the killer
Gibbs’ wife and daughter were killed by drug dealer Pedro Hernandez in a retaliatory killing. NCIS revealed that Shannon could identify Hernandez in the murder of a Marine and that she planned to testify. As a result, Hernandez shot and killed his protective officer while driving Shannon and Kellywhich caused an accident that killed everyone in the car.
NCIS: Origins is available to watch on Paramount+.
NCIS already showed how young Gibbs found and killed Hernandez, but NCIS: Origins is known for replaying the past and revealing inside looks at scenes that have already occurred on NCIS. As such, it is likely that NCIS: Origins will show Hernandez and Gibbs’ mission to find him. Shannon and Kelly’s deaths are a major theme in the background of every episode of NCIS: Origins that it only makes sense that Gibbs would avenge their deaths in the prequel.
Young Gibbs embarks on his journey as a Naval Investigative Service agent in the early 1990s. Set against the backdrop of Camp Pendleton, the series explores Gibbs’ formative years, the cases that shaped him, and the mentors who guided his path. , including Mike Franks.
