His arrival coincides with the disappearance of a young boy, and although he was initially a suspect, subsequent deaths and disappearances reveal a disturbing truth: Salem’s Lot is being hunted by a bloodthirsty vampire named Barlow (Alexander Ward). Ben and the other residents band together to take down Barlow, but not all of them make it to the end, and one of those deaths has undergone some changes.

At Dauberman’s Salem sectionThe first person to realize he was dealing with vampires was Matt Burke (Bill Camp) after Mike Ryerson (Spencer Treat Clark) turned into a vampire in his home. Matt shares his discovery with Ben, Susan (Mackenzie Lee), Father Callahan (John Benjamin Hickey) and Dr. Cody (Alfre Woodard), although the latter is skeptical at first. It’s only when she witnesses Marjorie Glick rise again in the morgue as a vampire that she realizes what they’re dealing with.
Dr. Cody joins the mission to find and kill Barlow and almost becomes one of the survivors, along with Ben and Mark Petrie (Jordan Preston Carter). In the novel, Cody also comes close to surviving the horrors of Lot, but suffers a grisly death that was not included in the film. Cody doesn’t notice the missing stairs in the dark basement where Barlow is resting and falls on several knives. framed by vampires, pierced himself.

In the 1979 series, Cody’s death was changed: he was killed by Straker, who impaled him on the horns and antlers on the wall. The 2004 miniseries also made several changes to Cody’s death: instead of being impaled by knives, he falls into an electric saw.

At Dauberman’s Salem sectionDr. Cody survives a visit to the Marsten House, but does not discover the vampires’ real resting place. Ben, Mark and Cody discover that vampires are living in the hallways, hiding in car trunks and using them as coffins. Ben finds Susan’s car and opens the trunk, finding her asleep. Ben knows he needs to kill her but can’t bring himself to do it, so Cody decides to do it. Unfortunately, right before she does, Susan’s mother, Ann, shoots and kills Cody.as she now serves Barlow and must protect the vampires.

Death of Dr. Cody Salem section The novel was terrifying and disappointing because he could have been one of the survivors along with Ben and Mark, but the movie made it even worse. Cody Ann’s murder is surprising and brutal, especially since it happened in the third act, during the build-up to the final battle in the hallway.
