Full explanation of Jurassic Park and the world timeline

THE Jurassic World and Jurassic Park The timelines span 65 million years, but most of the action takes place across the six films from 1993 to 2022. Jurassic Park was initially created by author Michael Crichton, and his best-selling technothriller was adapted into a blockbuster film by Steven Spielberg in 1993. Spielberg’s film changed many aspects of Crichton’s novel, and every hit Jurassic Park film and TV project based on the canon established by Spielberg’s films.

Jurassic ParkThe incredible success spawned two more sequels, in 1997 and 2001, before being softly rebooted as Jurassic World by Colin Trevorrow in 2015. Jurassic World began a second trilogy that was completed in 2022 Jurassic World Dominion and two canonical Netflix animated spinoffs, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. THE Jurassic It is often said that the saga is “an adventure that lasted 65 million years”, and Jurassic World Rebirth pushes the timeline further into the future.

The Jurassic World Prologue: Dominion

The prologue to Jurassic World: Dominion established that 65 million years ago, a Tyrannosaurus Rex was killed by a Gigantosaurus, the largest predator in existence. However, a fly drank the dead T-Rex’s blood and was encased in amber from a tree. This was the same fly preserved in amber from which InGen scientists extracted dinosaur DNA in the early 1990s, during the first Jurassic Park film.

Dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago.

This also means that the T-Rex in Jurassic Park is a clone of the super predator who was killed by Gigantosaurus. Of course, dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago. Still, thanks to Jurassic Park science, enough DNA has been recovered – and then remixed with amphibian DNA – to successfully clone multiple dinosaur species, making the Jurassic possible films. That the prologue ties all the films together with the definitive origin story.

1975

John Hammond founds InGen with Benjamin Lockwood

InGen (International Genetics Technologies, Inc.) was founded by John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) in 1975. Hammond”I dreamed” the idea of cloning prehistoric dinosaurs from DNA fossilized in amber. Hammond created a research group led by Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) to put his dream into practice. The first prehistoric creature was successfully cloned in 1985, thanks to the fly they found.

Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom retold InGen’s origin story to reveal that Hammond partnered with Scottish businessman Sir Benjamin Lockwood (James Cromwell), his best friend, to found InGen. Lockwood also built a fully functional genetics laboratory beneath Lockwood Manor in Northern California. While InGen was headquartered in Palo Alto, dinosaur cloning operations were moved to Isla Sorna (Site B), near Costa Rica. InGen also acquired Isla Nublar as the site of the dinosaur theme park, which they named Jurassic Park.

1993

The events of the original Jurassic Park

By 1993, Jurassic Park was nearly operational and preparing to open to the public. To calm investors’ fears, Hammond recruited paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant, paleobotanist Dr. to visit and evaluate the viability of Jurassic Park like a working safari/zoo. However, rival genetics company BioSyn hires Jurassic Park programmer Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) to steal dinosaur embryos. Bad weather created a disaster that knocked out the park’s power grid, allowing the dinosaurs to escape their paddocks.

As dinosaurs take over Isla Nublar, Dr. Grant becomes trapped in the jungle with Hammond’s young grandchildren, Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello). Grant keeps them safe and manages to return to the Jurassic Park visitor center in time to evacuate the island. Realizing the disastrous implications of his Jurassic Park dream, Hammond decides the park should never open.

Huge advances in scientific technology have allowed a tycoon to create an island full of living dinosaurs. John Hammond invited four people, along with his two grandchildren, to join him in Jurassic Park. But will everything go according to plan? A park employee attempts to steal dinosaur embryos, critical security systems are shut down and it now becomes a race for survival with dinosaurs roaming the island freely.

Hammond and Lockhart fall out

Benjamin Lockwood’s daughter visited Jurassic Park some time before its destruction in 1993 and saw what her father was planning. However, Charlotte died of a genetic disease some time after the collapse of Isla Nublar. Before his death, she tried to have a child by cloning her father. Hammond, who has changed since the Jurassic Park incident, discovered Lockwood’s plans and was furious at the “unholy thing” his partner intended to do. Hammond and Lockwood had a fight.

With no blood relatives, the devastated Lockwood decides to use cloning technology in his mansion to recreate his daughter through cloning. Benjamin ended up isolating himself at Lockwood Manor. Hammond chose, at this point, not to mess with nature anymorebut Lockwood kept his dreams and plans, and after Hammond died in 1998, Lockwood finally achieved his breakthrough with human cloning.

The Events of the Lost World: Jurassic Park

In 1997, the ailing John Hammond was on the verge of death and was replaced as CEO of InGen by his nephew, Peter Ludlow (Arliss Howard). Hammond invites Ian Malcolm to join a team to travel to Isla Sorna and document the dinosaurs there, which were released into the wild after a hurricane. At Site B, where the dinosaurs were created, Malcolm discovers that Ludlow hired mercenaries to capture the dinosaurs in order to bring them back as attractions in Jurassic Park San Diego.

The ship carrying the T-Rex accidentally crashes into the docks, and the apex predator is released to attack San Diego.

Ludlow’s mercenaries capture an adult T-rex and a child and prepare them for transport to the United States. The ship carrying the T-Rex accidentally crashes into the docks, and the apex predator is released to attack San Diego. Malcolm and Dr. Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore) use the baby T-Rex to take the adult back to the docks and seal him in the ship. The T-Rexes are then transported back to Isla Sorna, which the United States and Costa Rican governments call a nature reserve.

Following Steven Spielberg’s classic adapted from the works of Michael Crichton, The Lost World: Jurassic Park is a perspective-shifting action-adventure film that focuses on Jeff Goldblum’s Dr. Ian Malcolm as he is sent to investigate Isla Sorna while InGen tries to solve its financial problems by selling dinosaurs to create a new theme park. However, as Malcolm warns the executives about the danger of this, terror is brought to the United States when the previously contained threats spread.

Masrani Global Corporation Opens Jurassic World

By the time of his death in 1998, John Hammond had converted from an industrialist and capitalist who sought to profit from his cloned dinosaurs into a naturalist who wanted his creations to be left alone on his islands. That same year, Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan), the CEO of Masrani Global Corporation, acquired InGen with the aim of realizing Hammond’s initial dream of opening Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar.

Seven years after acquiring InGen, Masrani Global Corporation opened the renamed Jurassic World on Isla Nublar. Claire Dearing has come on board as Jurassic World’s senior asset manager, while Owen Grady has been hired as the park’s animal behaviorist/Velociraptor trainer.

Masrani expanded Hammond’s initial Jurassic Park dream with more dinosaur attractions, including the Mosasaurus in Jurassic World Lagoon. Jurassic World operated successfully for ten years. However, Masrani also discovered that the public’s fascination with dinosaurs was waning, which led the company to pressure Dr. Henry Wu to create hybrid dinosaurs like the Indominus Rex as new attractions for the park.

2015

The events of Jurassic World

In 2015, after ten years of Jurassic World operating without incident, a disaster occurred that doomed the Masrani dinosaur park. The Indominus Rex escaped from its paddock and caused havoc on the island. The Indominus’ rampage created a domino effect, as the Pteranodons escaped their enclosure, which led to the death of Simon Masrani when the dinosaurs attacked his helicopter. Jurassic World was evacuated while Owen Grady and Claire Dearing teamed up to stop the Indominus Rex.

Grady weaponized the three Velociraptors he trained, led by Blue, to help him hunt the Indominus. Dearing released the original T-Rex from Jurassic Park, who had lived on Isla Nublar since the fall of Hammond Park in 1993, to fight the Indominus. The hybrid superpredator was eventually defeated and eaten by the Mosasaurus. Owen and Claire evacuated Jurassic World, which was permanently closed when the remaining dinosaurs escaped and took control of Isla Nublar once again.

The Jurassic World Ultimate Collection includes all 6 films from the hugely popular dinosaur franchise. It begins with paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler and mathematician Ian Malcolm as they visit an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. The dinosaurs eventually break free, creating the chaos that is explored throughout the 6 films. You can buy all 6 films now for $60 on Prime Day.

The Events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

After the fall of Jurassic World, Claire Dearing and several park employees felt responsible for the dinosaurs. When Isla Nublar’s volcano, Mount Sibo, suddenly becomes active again after lying dormant for 500 years, Claire founded the Dinosaur Protection Group to secure funding and rescue the dinosaurs. Two of Claire’s key DPG hires were systems analyst Franklin Webb (Justice Smith) and paleo veterinarian Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda).

This organization was the first of its kind to fight against the mistreatment of dinosaurs, although it faced many opponents along the way. The DPG aims to find a way for both species to coexist, while ensuring that dinosaurs suffer limited human intrusion. Claire discovers that Benjamin Lockwood and Eli Mills (Rafe Spall), who runs Lockwood’s business, financed an operation to rescue the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar before the eruption of Mount Sibo destroys the island.

Claire recruits Owen Grady, who joins the expedition to rescue Blue, her pet Velociraptor. After arriving at Isla Nublar, Grady is betrayed by Wheatley (Ted Levine), the mercenary leading the mission. Lockwood’s mercenaries capture several species of dinosaurs and leave the rest to die on the island. Owen, Claire and their friends survive the volcanic eruption and stow away on ships, with the dinosaurs returning to Lockwood Manor.

Owen and Claire discover that the dinosaurs are being sold at a secret auction. Additionally, Dr. Henry Wu created a new hybrid superpredator, the Indoraptor, derived from the DNA of the Indominus Rex. Another shock is the fact that Lockwood’s young niece Maisie is a perfect human clone of Benjamin’s late daughter, Charlotte. After Owen, Claire and Grady survive an encounter with the Indoraptor, Maisie frees the captured dinosaurs and they flee across Northern California and spread across the world.

In the sequel to Jurassic World, Claire Dearing and Owen Grady aim to save the dinosaurs of Jurassic World from an imminent volcanic eruption. Although some see the creatures die and others intend to sell them on the black market, Owen and Claire hope to see humans and dinosaurs living side by side.

What will the future of Jurassic Park be like?

It was said that Jurassic World Dominion served as the end of the plot that began in the first film and continued into the Jurassic World trilogy. While that may be the case, it certainly doesn’t mean the franchise will end. Jurassic World Rebirth will serve as the beginning of a new phase of the franchise that will examine the consequences and struggles of dinosaurs and humans coexisting in the world.

Although it has not been confirmed whether the latter Jurassic World film will be followed by sequels, it’s fair to assume that if the film is a success, the story will continue. Interestingly, as big as the Jurassic Park franchise is, the future isn’t being mapped out in an overly ambitious way at the moment. Perhaps in response to excessively negative reception Jurassic World Dominionfilmmakers may be hoping that Jurassic World Rebirth it will be a return to form that will get fans excited about these films again before exploring what comes next.
