This article contains spoilers for The Legend of Vox Machina. The Legend of Vox Machina has featured incredible character development over its three seasons thus far, and the Vox Machina team members ended Season 3 in surprising places. The Vox Machina team is made up of Scanlan Shortholt, Pike Trickfoot, Vex’ahlia, Vax’ildan, Percy, and Grog. Plus, of course, Vex’s trusty bear, Trinket. Team power levels can be monitored from season to season, and The Legend of Vox Machina season three proved why the Critical Role characters are variable, intriguing and relevant to Dungeons and Dragons gameplay.
Although not immediately obvious to the uninitiated, The Legend of Vox Machina is in fact based on Dungeons and Dragonsand this subtle link makes power ranking your characters an interesting task. With The Legend of Vox Machina Season 4 already renewed, the TV show has shed light on its popularity and ability to attract fans beyond the D&D community. Amazon Prime Video’s commercially successful show looks at web series Critical Role for inspiration, exemplifying how real D&D players may want to run their campaigns.

Percy
Human Gunslinger
Percy is probably the least powerful member of the Vox Machina team, but he’s not the least important, if any character can be considered the least important. It is more the case that every character in Vox Machina is equally important in some way, with each individual’s strengths and weaknesses gradually being revealed. This beautifully reflects the nature of D&D as a concept and as a franchise – it’s ultimately about teamwork and having fun with friends.
Despite that, Critical Roleand D&D in general, it is based on a series of intricate fights between characters with different abilities, leading to detailed and complex playoffs between magic, powerful weapons and brute force. Therefore, Ranking Vox Machina members by power is possible and it’s worth it. However, this leaves Percy a bit behind, as his innate humanity deprives him of some of the innate abilities of his team, which is made up of various fantasy races.
A sharpshooter who rarely misses, Percy’s strength lies in his mastery of vital technology…
Percy is incredibly intelligent as the father of firearms in Exandria, fighting with his Pepperbox with excellent results throughout the show. A sharpshooter who rarely misses, Percy’s strength lies in his mastery of vital technology and his development principles. Percy was initially driven by revenge for the murder of his family, creating enmity with Ripley. At the end of Season 3, Percy’s true power in The Legend of Vox Machina was in his moral redemption. Sparing Ripley’s life proved that he had overcome his demons, making his shocking survival near the end of Season 3 all the more dramatic.

Scanlan Shortholt
Gnome Bard
Scanlan may be rude and despicable, but he is lovable and his Scanlan Hands technique has gotten the team out of trouble on several occasions. Scanlan has a lot of love for this team and is incredibly motivated to do the right thing, despite making mistakes sometimes. This may be one of the most decisive factors in your power, ultimately. Despite seeking a relationship with his estranged daughter, Scanlan repeatedly commits himself to saving the world. Scanlan is small in stature but strong in heart.
Scanlan always brings a level of sexual joke, which brings enormous entertainment value to The Legend of Vox Machinabut unfortunately for him, it doesn’t make him stronger. Scanlan doesn’t have the physical strength of teammates like Grogso he won’t be punching through walls anytime soon. Scanlan’s magical abilities can, however, provide levitation support that often gets the team out of sticky situations.
Despite seeking a relationship with his estranged daughter, Scanlan repeatedly commits himself to saving the world.
Scanlan’s Magic Door Key allows instant access to your luxury bachelor pad, which can be incredibly handy in times of need. Scanlan’s portal offers staff a potential safe haven in danger, which could be key in future seasons. While the key only works in the presence of a door, the portal opener certainly has limitations.

Groggy
Barbarian Goliath
Grog the Goliath is probably the funniest member of the team, but cannot be classified as the most powerful due to his relative lack of magic compared to the other members of the team. Grog, however, has access to magical gauntlets that elevate him to a physical level beyond many of his opponents in the show, besides dragons, of course. Grog’s Titanstone Knuckles are a great indicator of his poweras they could allow him to win important fights in the future.
Grog’s simplistic nature has been the subject of much of the humor of The Legend of Vox Machina from the 1st to the 3rd season.
Although Grog’s strength and power are extremely powerfulthey may never reach the accomplishments of some of the other Vox Machina members due to their relatively low IQ. Grog’s simplistic nature has been the subject of much of the humor of The Legend of Vox Machina from the 1st to the 3rd season. While this is completely hilarious, it does mean that he is typically incapable of formulating useful plans.
However, there was one case where this did not apply. Grog is more of a punch first and ask questions later type of character. However, Grog devised a plan in Season 3 that helped him and Scanlan finding his dragon target, although it didn’t necessarily work out ideally. Grog also woke up after declaring the plan, claiming that he had blacked out for a second, suggesting his normal incapacity for such strenuous mental exertion. Although there may be the very distant possibility of an inner genius within Grog.

Vex
Half Elf Ranger
Vex’ahlia can fly on her magical broom, which immediately sets her apart since Vox Machina fights dragons. However, Vex’ahlia’s powers go beyond that. Vex is a little hand with a bow and arrowdemonstrating his ability to shoot and hit a long-range target again and again. Vex’s skill with a bow and arrow, combined with her ability to fly, made her an important ally in the fight against Thordak.
Importantly, Vex has an armored pet bear named Trinket, who has proven to be as useful as he is adorable. Naming her after the bear, Vex stores her bear in her trinket – this magical amulet allows for safe and portable storage, including that of living beings. Grog, like Trinket, traveled on Vex’s necklaceproving the Vex’s usefulness on multiple levels. Vex’s fight with Ripley in Season 3 confirmed that Vex’ahlia will continue to be a valuable asset in Season 4 in more ways than one.
The first campaign (Vox Machina) of the real play web series Critical Role can be streamed for free on YouTube.
Vex is quick-witted and calm under pressureensuring her team can count on her in dark times. A no-nonsense presence who often brings the team together, her slow-burn romance with Percy was also a big factor in The Legend of Vox Machina extraordinary success. Not only that, but it motivated her to fight for the safety of Percy and the entire team, leading her to demonstrate fierce strength. Vex’s headaches also signal approaching danger – this double-edged sword provides dragon radar, but at the same time is a frustrating weakness.

Vax
Half-Elf Rogue
Vax is definitely one of the most powerful members of Vox Machina at the end of Season 3, and it may have always been that way. Vax provides Vox Machina with a powerful male elf to rival Keyleth’s druid powers. Vax’ildan is Vex’s twin brother and also harbored a growing affection for Keyleth throughout the show, which was developed satisfactorily in the third season. The well-planned growth of Vax’s character reflected the growth of his power, establishing a solid blueprint for a successfully written script. D&D TV program.
Vax saw some excellent character development between seasons 1 and 3 and definitely came to understand the importance of family, which made him more committed to the cause. Vax’s fear of intimacy was explored on surprisingly sensitive and deep levels, preventing him from getting close to Keyleth. That their troubled but blossoming love was often used to portray the depth of Vax’s power and danger – he is linked to the powerful Raven Queen, who could empower and harm him in equal measure. Vax’s fear of the Raven Queen and her dominance over him caused him to keep his loved ones at a distance.
Vax uses important traces throughout The Legend of Vox Machinaleveling him up beyond his natural ability. Your ability to master Deathwalker’s Ward is a critical addition to your natural speed, strength, and knife skills. Without having to retrieve them, Vax’s magical knives are a great asset to his fatal ability. Vax is an accomplished fighter in single combat and can defend himself in fights using ninja-style moves from a variety of martial arts.
Gnome Cleric
Pike is one of the characters who has grown the most in his powers since the release of The Legend of Vox Machinaand she’s certainly one of the team’s most promising members in the Season 3 finale. Pike is a gnome like Scanlan, but unlike Scanlan, she is a servant of Everlight. Pike’s devotion to the goddess Sarenrae gives him immense powermarking her as Vox Machina’s resident healer, often offering invaluable services.
…Pike’s ability to resurrect herself and her team members was continually instrumental to Vox Machina’s success.
At first, Pike appeared to be one of the weakest members of Vox Machina. Pike’s small physical presence and relative lack of knowledge in a fight meant that she did not compare favorably for party members like Grog or Vax’ildan. She relied heavily on teamwork to overcome danger. However, Pike’s ability to resurrect herself and her team members was continually instrumental to Vox Machina’s success. And, in The Legend of Vox Machina In season three, it was revealed that there may be more to Pike than meets the eye.
Although supported by Everlight, Pike traveled through hell in season 3 and won a card game against the demon Zerxus Ilerez, showing incredible intelligence and insight. The paladin was told by the devil that she had devil blood, which could make her far more powerful than she or anyone else imagined. The Hell plot confirmed that Pike was a wild card in Vox Machina and someone to watch in future seasons.
1
Keyleth
Half-Elf Druid
Keyleth arose from The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3 looking like the strongest member of the team. Or at least the team member with the most potential for mind-blowing power. Keyleth is an Ashari druid and is able to control plants and animals for the benefit of himself and his team. These abilities have always come in handy when fighting the series’ evil dragons.
However, season 3 proved that Keyleth is still not fully in tune with her abilities and that the incredible strength she has demonstrated thus far was just the tip of the iceberg. Keyleth has demonstrated a certain level of shapeshifting ability, using sand to manifest in a remote location to communicate with others. Keyleth can control various elements, which is in keeping with his Ashari origin – the four Ashari tribes guard portals to the Elemental Planes. Keyleth will certainly expand further in Season 4.
As confirmed in The Legend of Vox Machina Season 3,”it takes years for the Ashari of Earth to master their powers,” suggesting why it may be taking Keyleth so long to recover. Keyleth’s lack of confidence hindered her significantly throughout the process. The Legend of Vox Machina, and seeing her grow up and start to believe in herself was a big highlight of season 3, proving that the D&D show character development prioritized with meaning beyond a struggle between good and evil.
