Sorry, Zatana, but John Constantine has set his sights on a different justice league
Is John really flirting with Black Canary or just being a pawn?
The scene between Constantine and Black Canary sees Dinah looking to John for answers about rumors of a child conceived by vampires. John shares some of the rumors but ultimately dismisses them, stating that the child is not real. Dinah presses him, asking him to consider the possibility that the child could really exist. Frustrated by his failed magic and intoxicated, John snaps, telling Dinah to stop chasing rumors and picking fights. “With the idiot with the bow” And start actually helping people like him. rightly so Dinah storms off with an answer “#@&* you, John Constantine,” To which he replies, “I would like that.”
John’s comment that he would like to sleep with Dinah is likely another attempt to antagonize her. however, The emphasis is on “love” Hints that, despite using the comment to push her buttons, he would actually be more than willing to follow through if given the chance– regardless of her relationship with Oliver Queen. This behavior is typical of Constantine, who thrives in morally gray areas and has no qualms about making inappropriate advances. But, as clear as his interest is, the so-called “romance” is bound to remain on one side – especially with Dina, as she is ready to eat the vampires.

John Constantine is ready for his first serious MLM relationship
Although Dinah is unlikely to be John’s true match, their interaction raises an important point – DC should make efforts to diversify Constantine’s dating pool. While romance in John’s stories typically revolves around Zatanna, which is a fantastic choice, it would be refreshing to see him explore a relationship with someone else, especially another male character, given Constantine’s bisexuality. Despite multiple mentions of his bisexuality since his introduction in Hellblazer #51 in 1992 by John Smith, DC has yet to give him a serious romance with a human. A genuine people-who-love-people relationship would be a new and exciting exploration of of John Constantine Character.
