Ark: Ascended Survival It may already seem like an otherworldly experience, but a mod can transform it into a true fantasy world. Ascended did a good job of capturing what made its predecessor good and expanding on it. While not without its flaws, the game is arguably a huge improvement. The title’s success is useful given that the long-awaited sequel has faced considerable delays and still has no concrete release date. Regardless, the updated title is still set to see more DLC in the near future.
Another big boost for the prehistoric survival game is the modding community. These mods range from small quality of life changes to massive content additions. Ascended also makes it easy to use mods with its own in-game mod page, along with support for popular mod sites like Curseforge. However Ark: Ascended SurvivalThe best mods aren’t necessary to make it a good game like some other games do, they can take the experience to a new level, and that’s exactly what Draconic Chronicles does.
How Draconic Chronicles changes the Ark
A whole new world to explore
Draconic Chronicles by Avenue (via Curseforge) is a massive mod that adds some of the coolest modified creatures to the Ark: Ascended Survival with more than 20 types of dragons. The mod can be played on all maps and has different levels to access, regardless of the player’s stage in the game.. Although it is still in development, the mod receives constant updates to add new features and remain stable with any advancements. Ascended. An awesome bonus for multiplayer servers is that Draconic Chronicles supports cross-play.

Draconic Chronicles also has an in-game structure, the Draconic Guide, which helps players classify all content. This guide has a page for each creature and what they can do. This is extended with a spawn chart for each map that will show the areas to find the designated dragon. The guide will also show you all the necessary crafting recipes and how to get the modded items. If that wasn’t enough, the mod’s creator also created a Discord group that has a built-in wiki for the mod.
Draconic Chronicles also adds two bossesfrom now on, it can be defeated to gain certain items. The first is the Thunder Plague Pyro Wyvern, a dangerous undead beast with three heads, each controlling one of the Wyverns’ three original damage types. The other is Blazewyv3rn-x9, a deadly robotic enemy with immense firepower. Both bosses will be some of the hardest fights in Arkbut reward players with Skeletal Armor and Wyvern/Dragon Tek Armor respectively.

For starters, Draconic Chronicles takes the original Wyverns from Ark, are already some of the coolest flying creatures in the world. Ascendedand adjusts them slightly. Their abilities work the same, but they have an updated appearance and are tamed via the mod method. Dragons are tamed by creating specific types of Essence. Everyone has their own recipe in the Draconic Cauldron. After that, everyone except the Wyrm and the Sand Dragon are the usual knockout punches that Ascended players will be used to it.
Draconic Chronicles adds some new additions to the Wyvern family in Ember, Blood, Tropical, Inferno, Undead, and Wyvernicorn. Each is created to look different and explore a new peak of power in this prehistoric world. Outside of the Wyvern family, there are the Polar Dragon, the Sand Dragon, the Rejuvenating Dragon, the Bloodstorm Dragon, the Flameforge Dragon, the Tide Dragon, the Hydro Dragon, the Bright Veil Dragon, the Undead Dragon, the Headless Hydra, the Dragonkin and the Wyrm.
While each dragon is strong in its own right, there are some that stand out for various reasons. For example, The Flameforge Dragon is the ultimate mining companion, capable of harvesting large amounts of Metal and Stone while also smelting them in your inventory. In contrast, something like the Headless Hydra excels in combat scenarios. This is due to its strong melee and beam attacks, which depend on how many of its five heads are active.

Draconic Chronicles also features numerous equipment options to reward players. Players can create their own armor and structures to become rulers of dragons living in a draconic castle. They come bundled with several crafting stations/systems that are great value. One of them is the Draconic Incubator, Capable of holding multiple eggs and keeping them cool with built-in air conditioning. Another popular feature is the Draconic Altar, which can be used to raise dragon chibis and show the player’s progress.
The dragons themselves also receive rewards to further increase their power. While some have built-in saddles/armor, the vast majority need one manufactured. Skeletal and Tek Wyvern armor is used for all Wyverns and gives them bonuses to health and damage. However, non-Wyverns have fewer options and currently only have access to Tek Armor for the Hydro Dragon. This armor comes with the bonus ability of the Hydro Dragon being able to put up a large energy shield.
What the future holds for the Draconic Chronicles
Endless possibilities
Draconic Chronicles has a promising future due to the immense potential it has. The guide still contains many placeholders for new items and bosses. If the current bosses are any indication, the next additions will be massive battles that introduce dangerous hybrids. New dragons also mean new rewards for players, likely increasing their and their dragons’ strength.
External bosses, there are several other fictional dragons that could join the list. Proper balance would probably be the biggest concern, but Draconic Chronicles does a good job of keeping things under control. Still, given the theme of this fantastic mod, it would make sense for some aspects to overpower the prehistoric entities players are accustomed to. In fact, it would be cool to see more additions incorporating the Tek side of Ark, like Blazewyv3rn-x9.
Overall, Draconic Chronicles is an amazing mod to give Ascended a new sensation. While it’s definitely more suited to experienced players, new survivors can still learn the mod easily and start their own dragon army. Even if you don’t want to tame these beasts, they offer great challenges and reward items with huge benefits, as well as adding an interesting fantasy touch to the game. Ark: Ascended Survival.
