The film was seen as a formulaic romance by many critics, but one thing that was universally praised by the same people who criticized the film was the performance of the cast.

Christina Aguilera and Cher were the stars of the film, but Stanley Tucci appeared as Cher’s Tess’ right-hand man. Conspiracy (2001)

Like Adolf Eichman

A group of Nazi soldiers at a meeting in the TV movie Conspiracy

Stanley Tucci hasn’t been involved in as many television projects as he has been involved in big-screen films. Conspiracy is the rare made-for-TV movie on his resume. The film takes a fictional take on the 1942 Wannsee Conference in which German Nazi leaders want to ensure that other government officials comply with their Final Solution during the Holocaust during World War II. It’s not exactly the subject most audiences want to see, but it provides a careful psychological examination of those involved.

The film’s script is based on the only surviving transcript of the meetingmaking the dialogue more authentic, but everything else is put together by whoever works on the film. The scene initially plays out as if the high-ranking officials are looking for information before it is revealed that sterilization and murder are what the Nazi regime expects everyone in the room to comply with. It’s an examination of one of humanity’s darkest moments.

Tucci plays the head of the Gestapo, one of the participants in the meeting. Eichman is responsible for explaining the gas chambers to the other participants. Critics especially praised Tucci and Kenneth Branagh for their work after Branagh spoke at length about hating the people they played.

Some may not think that Tucci’s brief stint in the Marvel Cinematic Universe deserves to be among his best films, but it does. Tucci is an old school actor and this is exemplified here when he adopts a completely different accent and mannerisms to play Dr. Erskine.

Erskine, someone who was once forced to work for German scientists during World War II, defects to the United States and uses all of his knowledge to help create the super soldier serum used on Steve Rogers. He is one of the few people who believes that Rogers has what it takes to be Captain American. Unfortunately, he is killed when his experiment takes place, so his time in the film is brief indeed.

Tucci has since reprized the voice acting role for the animated series What if… from Marvel? On Disney+ too.

When the majority of the public thinks of Easy Athey think of Emma Stone’s seemingly effortless charm and comedic skill in one of her earlier roles. Part of this charm and comedy is aided by the actors who play his family. Tucci appears in the role of his father.

It’s rare, especially in teen comedies, to see such supportive parents on film. Tucci’s Dill, however, is always there to support Stone’s Olive and ready to talk, even if he doesn’t always know exactly what’s going on in her life. The character has an easy sense of humor that translates into a fun dynamic between Oliver and him. This also means he can deliver great delivery on simple sentences like “who told you?” when Oliver’s younger brother makes a comment about being adopted.

Although Tucci was not specifically recognized for his work, the film received a number of award nominations following its release.

…Tucci’s highest-grossing film he appeared in to date Captain America was released.

Inspired by the novel of the same name, The Devil Wears Prada holds the pop culture crown for films from the early 2000s. It’s a comedy with no focus solely on romance. It’s also a fantastic showcase for the talent of the actors. In addition to Tucci, Anne Hathaway is the protagonist, while Meryl Streep is her boss and the film’s antagonist for much of the story. Emily Blunt plays Hathaway’s co-worker who is apparently dying to please those who outrank her in the Runaway Magazine office.

The film follows a young woman (Hathaway) who is hired as an assistant to the head of a fashion magazine right after leaving school. Although she knows nothing about fashion, she wants more serious work in journalism and decides to put up with the office’s hostility to use the connections it offers to find a job that suits her better.

Tucci appears as Nigel, the magazine’s art director. He is one of the few friendly faces in the office when he notices that the young woman is lost and helps her dress for the job she does and learn some tricks of the trade. If this were a Cinderella story, he would be like your fairy godmother. It’s a very similar role to the one Tucci would play Burlesque a few years later.

Since its debut, the film has had a huge impact on pop culture, spawning several films and television shows that have attempted to create magical dynamics between the cast. It was also Tucci’s highest-grossing film in which he appeared until Captain America was released.

Murder One (1995-1996)

As Richard Cross

Two men in suits having a serious argument in the series Murder One

Murder One was a unique legal and criminal procedural drama for its time in that it was not a straightforward procedural. When it premiered in 1995, the series focused on one murder case for the entire season as the overall arc of the series, while other cases could be solved in a more episodic format.

When Tucci appeared on the show in season 1, he was a member of the main cast, but an almost entirely new cast was brought in for the new cases in season 2. Tucci starred as the first suspect in the murder of the woman at the center of the story. His character isn’t the one being judged, but it’s a very different role than the ones he’s become known for. Richard Cross is a morally ambiguous man who is involved in many non-profit causes. While he’s still charming in the role, this moral ambiguity isn’t something many of his later characters have.

Tucci does not play one of the journalists. Instead, he plays a lawyer who represents a victim of sexual abuse and relays information to the top team. about the possibility of a large-scale cover-up. Throughout the film, the team finds evidence that over 80 church members were alleged abusers and those who overcame them were told about their actions.

The Hunger Games franchise (2012-2015)

As Caesar Flickerman

…he seems perfectly at home in the glitz and glamor that the oppressive regime presents to the public.

For someone who has had as long and storied a career as Tucci, it may be surprising to see that one of his best films is a young adult franchise inspired by a trilogy of YA novels. The dystopian Hunger Games The films are a highlight on his cinematic resume because of the ease with which he seems to portray the character of Caesar.

The films follow the journey of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) after she volunteers to take her sister’s place in a televised survival game and accidentally becomes the leader of a revolution. Tucci’s Caesar is a larger-than-life personality who interviews participants in the Hunger Games and is a pawn of the Capitol government. Innuendos roll off his tongue as he seems perfectly at home in the glitz and glamor that the oppressive regime presents to the public.

Tucci’s character sharply contrasts the fear and uncertainty that Katniss and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) face in the first film, as well as the cynicism of the tributes in the second film. His character work throughout his career made him the perfect choice for the role.

Tucci plays the neighbor responsible for her death in one of his darkest roles.

Tucci has played movie villains a few times in his career, and it’s impressive to see him move from his usual charming, effervescent characters to darker, colder work. Tucci has proven himself to be a true actor time and time again, and The beautiful bones is a great example of this work.

Tucci told Wall Street Journal he studied the writings of criminal profiler John E. Douglas (whose work was the basis for the Mindhunter series) to prepare for the role. He ended up being nominated for a BAFTA, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe for his work.
