Charles was likely attacked by Norman as revenge for Ina’s death
Charles was collateral damage in the conflict between Norman and Horace

Who died in the Beauty In Black car explosion?
Charles is apparently alive in Beauty In Black part 2 teaser
At the end of Beauty in Black part 1, the show teased the next episodes, which show Charles very much alive. The likelihood of him escaping armed men and a car fire is very small, so the chances are high that someone else was driving Charles’ car. The two individuals most likely to be in command during the attack are Varney or Salvo.
Varney could have easily driven Charles’ yellow Lamborghini since he’s her boyfriend, which would be a tragic loss. Alternatively, Salvo, the strip club dancer, could have stolen Charles’ keys and driven away in the car to rob him. This seems to be the most likely possibility since the end of the Beauty in Black part 1 suggests that Salvo is trying to rob Charles’ house, and Charles was drunk enough not to realize that his keys were stolen.
