Ted Lasso Season 4 gets a filming update from a top WB executive, though no official renewal has been announced. After over a year of silence, it was announced in August that Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the Emmy-winning sports comedy, have taken the first steps to renew Ted Lasso Season 4. The first of these steps was reportedly for WB TV to pick up the options of actors in the UK acting union, namely Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Roy Kent. They respectively play Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins.
Term Report that no Ted Lasso Actors were still locked in to return. However, Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of the Warner Bros. Television Group said this WB TV and other producers are looking for potential filming dates. Her comments came as she attended Warner Bros. Television Group’s Fall TV Season Celebration, and, in the brief quote below, Dungey strikes an optimistic note about the return of the Apple TV+ hit:
“We’re just in early production conversations, but it’s exciting.”
New episodes may be on the way, but the cast and crew won’t say it
After the initial reports about picking up the options on Goldstein, Waddingham and Swift, a separate update mentions that Phil Dunster would not return as Jamie Tartt for season 4 as a series regular due to scheduling conflicts with other series. However, he may be back as a guest star. The update, in any case, proves that there was movement to achieve these Ted Lasso Cast and see who is available.
The initial report from August revealed that, after reaching out to actors with SAG-AFTRA contracts, The next goal would be to open a writer’s room and potentially start filming in 2025. But in recent interviews, Waddingham and Goldstein shot down the report about the future of the show and emphasized that they have no big news to share.

Comments from Bill Lawrence, who co-created the series with Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Jason Sudeikis, pointed to the reason there was nothing official about Ted Lasso. Lawrence said in part: “The only safe bet in Hollywood is that no one involved with Ted Lasso will ever talk about it again Jason makes his decision who he wants to talk to And what he wants to say.” Lawrence explained that this is because Sudeikis, who plays the main character, would devote a lot of time to the series and make the most sacrifices. But even with this caveat, there is clearly movement on the previously dormant series.

It is a bit puzzling
The comedy is one of the biggest TV shows and is easily the biggest success story that Apple TV+ has. This makes it a little perplexing that Steamer hasn’t locked down at least some of the actors for potential spinoffs. Although the main series cannot continue without the titular Ted LassoThere should have been more clarity about the way forward not long after season 3 wrapped. It’s been over a year now, but the developments are finally progressing.
