As someone who was disappointed by Shyamalan’s 11-year run of poorly received movies, it’s certainly hard for me to fully recommend. The event. The concept at the heart of his story is certainly novel, and there’s definitely a case to be made for that It is an excellent B-lot much in the way of such ’50s classics as The blob. That said, the overall tone of the movie is still far too inconsistent to even fully defend it from that point of view, something Shyamalan has admitted to in the past when reflecting on the film.
