Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Season 3 Episode 7, ‘These Fragile Lives.’
A new mystery is introduced into Of Season 3, when Elgin (Nathan D. Simmons) goes to the city’s basement. The wine cellar was first shown in season 1 and was important to the stories of Victor (Scott McCord), Jade Herrera (David Alpay) and Julie Matthews (Hannah Cheramy). In a flashback to When he was young and trapped in the city with his mother and sister, Victor hid in the basementand when he came out the next morning, he discovered that all the residents had been brutally killed by Ofthey are monsters.
Jade stumbled into the basement in Season 1 and experienced a disturbing hallucination that may be linked to what Elgin sees. As for Julie, when she passed one of the OfFrom the distant bottles, she ended up in the basement, where she remained safe during the Colony House massacre. After a photo of the basement appeared through the polaroid camera Elgin foundhe went to this location and discovered a dead body, the identity of which could be important to the future of the program.
Elgin sees a dead body in the basement (but not the one Jade found)
The two corpses have distinct differences
Elgin finally finds a bearded corpse covered by a blanket in the back room of the basement. Given the state of decomposition of the body and Elgin’s repulsive reaction to its smell, the corpse had likely been in the basement for a long time, probably many years before Elgin arrived in town. This body is not the same one Jade saw in the basement during Of The first season, when that guy was crushed by a rock, he was wearing different clothes, he was clean-shaven, and he wasn’t as decomposed.
The body Jade saw looked at him and screamed, while the body Elgin found did no such thing. Apparently more than one person died in the basement, although it’s possible that the body Jade saw was never physically there, as both the stone and the corpse were gone when he returned later with Kenny Liu (Ricky He). This was also the first time Jade saw Ofmysterious symbol, while the corpse found by Elgin is linked to the skeletal woman wearing the kimono.
The woman in the kimono will solve the mystery of the corpse
It’s the key to a different mystery
After discovering the corpse, Elgin also sees the kimono-clad woman in the basement. He starts to ask if this is where something happens. This suggests that the woman in kimono has already told Elgin enough information for him to know how this person died and why they are trapped in the back room of the basement. She has been cryptic whenever she speaks or appears before Elgin, but he finally seems to understand how she wants him to help her, which is tied to the mysterious corpse.
As a former resident, the deceased will be able to provide more information about the town’s past during Of final episodes of season 3.
While Of There is no shortage of mysteries, the latter seems crucial to answering the ancient mystery of the kimono woman. The deceased is probably not a character that has already been introduced, but is someone connected to the kimono woman’s origins and why she needed Elgin to help her. As a former resident, the deceased will be able to provide more information about the town’s past during Of final episodes of season 3.
