Valley of the Stars may be a game about settling into a new pastoral life on the outskirts of Pelican Town, but It seems like most players don’t care about helping the village’s many citizens. At the very beginning of any ConcernedApe RPG game, Farmers will be introduced to the Quests that can be found on the bulletin board outside Pierre’s shop. These little quests take the form of “Help Wanted” requests posted by locals, and while the objectives can be quite simple, it turns out that most players simply don’t care about them.
Posting on Reddit, user m33se_g33se shared an image revealing that Just 9.7% of players have completed the “A Big Help” achievement on Steam, meaning just over 90% of all PC users have not completed 40 help requests..
Considering how early the system is introduced and the relative ease with which most challenges can be completed, having this total so small is genuinely shocking. Of course, the community had some valid points about why people just don’t care about finishing quests.
Stardew Valley missions can be annoying
Pelican Town can be a little irrational
One of the main reasons Valley of the Stars players don’t care about Help Wanted missions is the random nature of the objectives. Citizens often request an exorbitant quantity of a specific vegetable that will take longer to grow than the remaining days of the current season. As crops already harvested or resources gathered before accepting the quest do not count towards the target value, it may be impossible to complete some of the challenges.
The missions themselves can also be very time-consuming: While it’s not difficult to kill 100 Slimes in the Mines, it can take ages. since spawns are random. Considering how many other tasks there are for players to complete in Valley of the StarsMost would agree that there are better ways to spend time, especially when the quest rewards aren’t that special. At some point, going out of the way for a job that will only result in a few hundred coins is simply not worth the effort.
Stardew Valley missions can be skipped
There are better ways to make friends
I firmly believe Valley of the Stars is one of the best games of the last decade, but I have to question the existence of Help Wanted missions. They don’t really have a purpose; In fact, if they were removed, I doubt most players would care. While they can provide an endless stream of content, the community is happier decorating their farms than running around the mines looking for dozens of bats to slaughter.
