Notice! This article contains SPOILERS for episode 7 of The Penguin. The Penguin created an explosive ending, and the show has now given the perfect reason for Robert Pattinson’s Batman to appear. There were some doubts when Pattinson was first cast as Bruce Wayne. However, all of that disappeared after the actor showed he was one of the best live-action versions of Batman in director Matt Reeves’ film. Batman. The DC film was so good that new DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are expanding it with a universe of projects, allowing Reeves’ Batman franchise to be separate from the new DC Universe.
The first spinoff of Pattinson’s Batman debut is The Penguin. The DC series follows the events of Batmanending, showing the impact of Carmine Falcone’s death and the Gotham City flood unleashed by the Riddler. With Falcone’s death, a battle erupted for control of Gotham’s criminal underworld. Returning from Batman It’s Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb. The character will appear again in Batmansequencewith Matt Reeves having said this The Penguin fills the gap between the first film and Batman – Part IIthe story. Batman has been noticeably absent from the Penguin until now
The Dark Knight’s whereabouts are unknown
Robert Pattinson did not appear in The Penguin like Bruce Wayne or Batman. Since the HBO series is heavily focused on Gotham City’s criminal underworld, it makes sense for the hero to take a backseat, but not featuring him is strange. While Bruce Wayne may not have suited the direction of the series, Batman’s absence from the show raised a lot of questions. At first, the silent war that Oz Cobb waged against the Falcones in The Penguin it was enough to be ignored, but since then the chaos has grown exponentially.
Oz implicated the Maronis, betrayed both crime families, and pushed Gotham into a major gang war. While The Penguin could have said that Batman is out there stopping criminals and members of both gangs, there was no such reveal, even off-screen. Batman’s absence became notable during major events in The Penguin. While he couldn’t interfere when Oz first killed Alberto Falcone, it made little sense for Batman not to show up when the entire Falcone family was murdered by Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone. Salvatore Maroni’s escape from prison was another major event that required Batman.
The Penguin’s Explosion in Gotham Means Batman Can’t Stay Away Any Longer
Gotham City is in chaos and needs Batman
After missing major developments in Gotham’s gang war, The PenguinThe latest episode of DC features an event that could be what finally forces Batman to appear in the DC series. The Penguin episode 7 gave Oz a big victory, when he faced Sal Maroni and saw the character die of a heart attack while they were fighting. Although Oz emerged victorious, he did not recover his mother, as she was being held by Sofia Gigante, and to top it off, Sofia sent a large bomb that blew up Oz’s drug operation and almost took her life.
While Robert Pattinson’s Batman may not have existed in the earlier stages of the war between Oz Cobb and Sofia Falcone/Giant, a bomb exploded in the heart of Gotham. After the bomb exploded, Oz emerged from the sewer and saw the extensive damage he had caused to Crown Point, with several dead or injured and debris everywhere. Surely, if Batman were still around, then the Dark Knight would have to go there and appear in The PenguinFinal episode of, helping the injured and eliminating those who detonated the bomb.
Will Batman appear in the Penguin ending?
Matt Reeves spoke about Batman’s absence
While The Penguin episode 7’s bombshell is the perfect setup for the Dark Knight to appear in the finale, Batman is unlikely to appear in The Penguinfinal episode. The reason for this is that the character’s absence has already been addressed by Batman universe creator Matt Reeves. Talking to SFX MagazineReeves said no”I feel like something fundamental is missing“for not having Batman appear in The Penguin. The director also talked about how Batman and Riddler’s actions in Batman weigh in on the show.

The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc echoed that sentiment. According to the showrunner, The Penguin gives a different punch by not having Batmanallowing himself to focus on Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb”looking up, wanting to reach the top.” Although it makes sense that The Penguin the team didn’t want Batman to show up and upstage Oz, it looks like they’ll have some work to do to explain why Bruce is absent while a bomb blows a hole through Gotham. The Penguin could take a page from the comics and reveal that Batman wasn’t in Gotham.
