Silent Hill 2 remake is a game full of mysteries and puzzles, but One player went above and beyond to crack the code to a riddle most fans didn’t even realize. As James travels through the titular city, he will be able to collect various photographs of enigmatic scenes with even more bizarre captions. It’s easy to assume that these collectibles are just a means of adding some flavor to Silent Hill’s overall atmosphere, but in reality, they confirm a horrifying fact about James’ story.
Posting on Reddit, user DaleRobinson deciphered the hidden code of Silent Hill 2‘s, figuring out a complicated cipher: Counting the primary objects in each image and pairing that number with the captions gives the phrase “YOU’VE BEEN HERE FOR TWO DECADES.”
The Bloober team has not yet officially commented on the discovery, but the likelihood of this being unintentional seems impossible. The community was suitably impressed by the discoverypraising Dale Robinson for noticing and solving a puzzle that went right over most players’ heads.

Although this is probably the most elaborate secret in the game, the player base is undoubtedly scouring the city for even more hidden puzzles. Of course, silent Hill is known for being an enigmatic franchise to the point that even its promotional material hides messages.
In the teaser trailer for the next Silent Hill: Fall of the Cityviewers quickly discovered some interesting information about the footage. A fan converted the video to an m4a file and put it into the audio processing program Audacity, discovering text that said “Whatever heart this city had has now stopped.” More fuel was added to the hype when publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer No Code shared similar but slightly different images of an obscure house; Users discovered that they presented Morse code that said “I don’t know how to exit”.

Silent Hill 2 remake is more than just an improvement on Team Silent’s classic survival horror game. The Bloober team did a commendable job of taking the original and improving everything it excelled at. while also tweaking aspects that may not have aged well, modernizing it for today’s audiences. I loved my time with it and I hope the studio has the opportunity to do more with the franchise.
