A DC Black Label series has finally revealed the catastrophic consequences of Wonder Woman Unleash her full powers, resulting in a world-ending event. This final display of Diana’s strength not only introduces a chilling new codename, but also adds one of the darkest chapters to the Amazon princess’s lore in decades.

Accompanied by a mutated cheetah, Wonder Woman arrives at the Fortress of Solitude, where she is greeted by a Superman-inspired android who introduces himself as a “helper” and part of Clark. When Diana asks about Clark, the robot leads them inside, revealing Superman’s long-dead body and the shocking truth that Wonder Woman was the one who killed him. When Diana’s memories begin to revive in a flashback, it is revealed that she and Superman fought to the death after the humans – whom Clark defended – launched nuclear warheads on Themyscira, destroying her home, sister and mother.

The story depicts Wonder Woman and Superman’s battle raging across the globe, their blows so powerful they set the world on fire. at this point, Diana realizes that she is “The Great Fire”. Since Wonder Woman initiated the attack, despite Superman’s pleas for her to stop, she is ultimately responsible for Earth becoming the wasteland it is. The revelation devastated her, because her memories are still resurfacing, leaving her far from the emotions that once drove her to fight her best friend, which leads to his death and the near destruction of the planet.
