The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

At the time Zelda was restoring Goron City and Eldin Volcano The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomThere are still many more quests to do and people to help. The mountainous mystery side quest is a fun mission where the player has to solve puzzles to avoid a lava-filled death. The puzzles can be quite difficult, and the quest can be confusing. However, it is worth the time and effort it takes to find and complete this quest.

The mountainous mystery side quest rewards players with rupees, a heart piece, and Goron’s bracelet. There are three large areas for players to traverse and a boss battle; However, this is easy to overcome if you know what to do. The only echoes needed for this quest are a water echo, a rock slab, and the Tweelus echo. The player should already have these if they have completed all the prerequisites listed below. So, there is no need to prepare more than just acquiring the search.

How to unlock a mountainous mystery side quest

Some prerequisites are needed

Before you get the mountainous mystery side quest, you must have finished a few prerequisites The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. First, you need to clear the rift in the Eldin Volcano main quest. This main quest involves completing the Temple Dungeon and finally beating the boss there. Once you’ve done that, you’ll meet someone in Goron City who mentions that they haven’t seen their leader, Darren, in a while. It is up to you to find him.

Daran is investigating a cave but has not returned, so the NPC will ask for your help in finding him. This will add the search to your map to find them. You will have to warp to the Lizalfos Borough. This is pretty far into the game, so you’ll likely have to have a lot of dungeons already. Go to Eldin Volcano northwest of Koriko village. To get here, you must have passed through Eldin Volcano Trail.

In Eldin Volcano, go to the place close to the entrance but next to the lava. There is a map above to show you exactly where. On the left, you will see a wall. Use a water echo to climb up the wall. From there, head straight up and then to the right to go through the entrance to Summit Cave. Once inside the cave, you’ll see an orange NPC named Daran to talk to, which starts the quest in earnest.

Quicktips

Once talking to the Darren, go further into the cave The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. There will be a rock next to the lava, just push it in. Once the rock is in the lava, step on top and wait for the lava to shoot it up, like an elevator. From here, go around the corner and climb onto the wall. From here, jump onto the elevator rock and then to the wall next to it. From there, create a new slab and place it where the other lava column rises. Now, you can safely jump onto the rock.

The next area just requires you to jump from rock to rock. Jump on any rock already there, and make new slabs when you find a lava column that doesn’t have one. Go forward, then to the right. This is where the plate system gets a little difficult, as each new plate you create causes you to lose the previous one. Instead, just grab the slab at the bottom of the screen and use it as your first slab, then make one for the second jump.

Do not try to make a slab as you jump; It will cause you to fall into the lava immediately.

Second area

Quicktips

Once you’ve gotten through the last area in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomYou will be in a new one with areas that are on fire. This part is quite simple, just go through the area and avoid staying in the grass as long as possible. The fire monsters around will set the grass, so keep away from them. Alternatively, you can just stand still and wait for the tall grass to burn up, and then just walk through. Do not touch the fire monsters because they will throw you back, which could throw you into the lava.

Once you make it to the end, jump over the rocks and head straight up. There is a climbing wall there, use it to get higher. From there, as before, use the nearby slab to set up your first jump and make a stone slab for your second jump. This will make it easy to pass the lava. Once you’ve passed the lava, climb down the ladder to get to the next area.

Third area

Quicktips

This area in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a side scroller, so it’s much easier than before. Finish down the ladder and wait for the lava to start descending to climb down the next ladder. Once you see it coming down, stay as close to it as possible because you have to get to the climbing area before the lava returns. Climb up as quickly as you can but make sure to keep an eye out for flaming slugs on the wall.

Once you’ve gotten to the upper platform, feel free to take the chest with rupees because you’re safe in this area. Unfortunately, this is only a rest place, and you have to get down and move to the next place as quickly as possible. Climb up each ladder at the end of the path until you reach the top. Then, wait for the lava to flow up again before moving forward. Patience is the key to this puzzle.

Before you climb down, beat up the sledge. Otherwise, it will keep coming back to knock you down.

Finally, before going down the stairs to the last area, have the Tweelus Echo ready. Make four tweels stand people in a row, and just go to the other side. You can use the lava as a makeshift elevator to climb up to the top. From there, you can jump off and climb up the ladder to get out of this area. Now comes the chance to get one of the heart.

Boss battle

Before you go through the cave entrance to the boss battle in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of WisdomMake a bed and rest. The boss has a basic attack of throwing a stone meteor at you. You can avoid this pretty easily. Your task for this first phase is to just grab the ball under it and pull it. Once you’ve done this, it will disappear and you can only wake the ball a bunch of times. The second phase will add a spin attack to the boss movesets, but the ball will be moved to the right shoulder.

Wait for the boss to try to throw a flaming rock at you before you try to pull the ball like before. The flame stone attack leaves the ball on his shoulder completely open. From there, just pull it like you did before and whack the ball a bunch of times. The next phase will represent a slam attack, and the ball will be moved to the boss’ head. Do your best to avoid the boss.

The boss is too hot to catch at this point. Put down water when the boss gets too close so it can slam down on the water and cool off. Once you have cooled it completely, wait for another slam attack. It takes a moment for the boss to get up from a slam attack, leaving it open for your grab. Pull the ball away like you normally would and whack it a lot of times.

The last phase will move the ball to the monster’s back. Cool it off as you did before with water until it is no longer on fire. The next time the boss finishes his slam attack will be when you need to grab and pull the ball. Finally, chop the ball as much as you can, and it will finally be defeated. From here, just leave the cave, and the NPC at the entrance will be gone because you have successfully finished the mountainous mystery mission in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
