Part of the fun and sometimes the frustration of Once human is setting up a base. This includes building foundations, placing furniture, and unlocking new recipes to make the base functional and cozy. With the end of Manibus and the beginning of the winter path scenarios, the map has undergone a significant change.
Players can no longer access older areas. Instead, they must start over in the newer regions of the world. Onyx Tundra, Vena Fjord and Ember Strand. With the new scenario of Once human and many players making the switch, players will need to know the best place to build. Although the map is smaller than the previous scenario map, there are still several places to choose from, some better than others.
The best places to build a base in winter
Bases must be placed close to resources
THE Winter Path There are three regions on the map. The first two, Onyx Tundra and Vena Fjord, were accessible at the beginning of the scenario. Players could choose between the two as their landing location. Onyx Tundra was promoted as suitable for beginners, while Vena Fjord was aimed at more experienced players. Starting with Phase 2, Ember Strand also became available for players to explore and build.
Each region has several settlements to build nearby, and settlements are popular places to build. However, they can also be overcrowded. Fortunately, there are also many worlds to choose from, and if you’re having trouble finding a place in one world, you should move to another. So where should you build in each of the new regions?
Onyx Tundra for easy passive acid cultivation
The first choice for the best base building location in Once Human: Path of Winter and east of Tobacco Resort. This is because it is located in a polluted area with access to a lot of polluted water. Although pollution can deplete some of your health, as long as you wear suitable armor Once humanthe pollution will be more forgiving than the harsh winter elements you’ll find elsewhere on the map.
With access to polluted water, you may eventually passively farm acid. If you’re building here, make sure you unlock the Memetics early on, which will unlock the Water Bomb. Another benefit of building in this area is that it is less likely to become overcrowded due to contamination.
However, this can also depend on the world. Another great option, and my favorite, is the building east of Mousseville. I, along with two friends, built in this area. Although it can get chilly, especially between 8pm and 8am, you can combat this by preparing and consuming Salty Roasted Spikemato. The recipe is unlocked with the Dishes II Memetic.
Be sure to unlock Memetics that help you stay warm, like the Polar Expedition and Thermal Tower Memetics.
What I like most about this area is that it is aesthetically pleasing and offers a flat surface to build your base on. Furthermore, it is near the water, and there are many deer, seals and polar bears that appear here. Not to mention it’s close to Mousseville, which is a great place to loot when you’re low on basic knowledge.
The last recommended construction location is close to the Ice House Camp in Once human. With easy access to the camp, you can easily travel there and trade with NPCs. Additionally, the surrounding areas have lots of resources to farm.
Vena Fjord is great for resources of all types
Next is the Vena Fjord. Venja Fjord and Onyx Tundra were the two places players could initially choose to land and build. Vena Fjord is home to places like Whaleborn, Abandoned Farm, and Wish Land West.
If you intend to build here, the first place to consider is near the Broken Reefs Teleportation Tower. First, it’s close to a teleport tower, which can be useful, especially if your home’s teleport is on hold. Secondly, it is also close to many good resources, including animals, trees and rocks.
To survive the cold, make sure you hunt different animals as each animal’s skin has different properties.
whale bone is another area to consider building nearby. As it is not possible to build directly in or near a settlement, travel to the west sideand you’ll find plenty of space to build. Here, you’ll have access to things like cold crystal ores, sulfur and iron, and seawater. You will also find many Spikemato plants.
Tired of worrying about hypothermia? Build near Campo Verde. Greenfield is lush and you won’t have to worry too much about the drastically low temperatures. Additionally, Greenfield has lots of animals to tame or hunt and easy access to various minerals and plants.
Like Onyx Tundra, there is a place in Vena Fjord that has the perfect place to grow acid too. As acid is a valuable resource in Once humanPlaces where you can easily grow it are popular to build. In Vena Fjord, the place to farm acid is located east of Abandoned Farm. This area has access to polluted water and Starrace ores, while the surrounding areas will have plants and other minerals. Although you will have to worry about pollution, you won’t have to worry about hypothermia in this area.
The Newly Unlocked Ember Strand Is a Fire Hazard
Ember Strand is the latest area to open in Once human and there are less likely to be as many players building there. This is because the area is overcome with lava pitswhich are easy to fall off. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t areas you can build a foundation in.
If you want to build a base in Ember Strand, I recommend heading south and away from any lava pits. You can also build near the Oblivion settlement to the east or north. What’s great about Ember Strand is that you’ll have plenty of access to Hot Rock Ore.
What to look for when building a foundation
Resources, loot locations, and animals to hunt
Choosing a good location is important when building a base in Once human. However, what defines good can be subjective. You should think about what is most important to you and go from there. If you like easy access to loot, build near lootable areas. If you like easy access to animals and minerals, build near places like Greenfield. If you prefer seclusion, you may need to hop between worlds to find the perfect spot. Also, consider things that will help your late game, like being able to farm acid.
The location where you initially build your base doesn’t need to be set in stone. Fortunately, it’s very easy to move bases as long as you find a clear spot to do so. So if you get bored with an area and want to move on or decide you want access to more resources, you can change locations in the future and even hop between regions. Remember that each location has its advantages and disadvantages and no place will be perfect. So choose what’s most important to you and have fun building Once human.
