one Star Wars TV show has a budget that surpassed even some of Star Wars Best movies, and, despite public perception, it is not The acolyte. Although movies have long dominated the Star Wars Timeline, since the Skywalker saga ended with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars Television shows have become so much more important. Shows such as Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, AhsokaAnd Andr have had massive influences on the franchise, but one in particular stood head and shoulders above the rest in terms of price.
According to Forbes, Andr had a massive $351.8 million budgetA price tag that beats its feature-length predecessor, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Forbes reported:
“Recent filings reveal that at the time filming for the second season of Andr Beginning in November 2022, Disney has spent a staggering $351.8 million (£270.8 million) on the show… that’s 8% more than the cost of making it. Bug one And a shade less than the $364.5m (£278.3m) spent on 2018’s box office bomb, Solo: A Star Wars Story.”
Andr is easily one of Star Wars Best TV Shows, and it’s proven incredibly popular with audiences, but that’s still an astonishingly high number, even for a live action Star Wars Show of andors Caliber.
What the costs of Andor mean for Star Wars
Following The acolyte And the subsequent backlash to the show, Disney’s budgets have come under increasing scrutiny. The acolyte proved incredibly controversial and was ultimately cancelled, which only drew more attention to its $230.1 million Price. This was obviously much lower than the cost of AndrBut many still found that the budget did not correspond to the result (although, it is worth noting, it is difficult to distinguish genuine criticism of the show from review bombing and virtriol directed at the actors).

andors Budget is different in this regard. Andr is widely considered some of Star Wars best work in recent years, so it’s less likely audiences would have sticker shock, even with the cost so much greater for this show as The acolyte Or, apparently, some Star Wars Movies. even so, Star Wars Will very likely not continue to make shows that are so expensive. As a point of comparison, the MCU Agatha all along is the lowest-priced show in that franchise so far, and budget cuts will likely trend in the same direction for Star Wars.
Our take on Andor’s budget
In the end, it’s hard to say whether a show like this Andr Is ‘worth’ the price, especially when the discussions involve such staggering numbers. It is a challenge to truly realize a budget of $351.8 million and all the nuances that go into those decisions. That’s what I said, When compared with Star Wars Movies like SoloIt makes sense that Disney would invest so much in Andr. In terms of Star Wars ‘Successes’ of late, Andr was high on the list.
For a franchise that appears to be struggling, especially in light of the sometimes alarming backlash to The acolyteIt makes sense that when the franchise felt it had something good, it would spare no expense to bring it to life. It will be interesting to see how this compares Andr Season 2 and whether, finally, Andr Season 2 will pay off. Given the massive success of Andr Season 1, it seems safe to assume it will, but apparently, Star Wars Has taken quite the financial stake on the show.
