Netflix canceled Kaos starring Jeff Goldblum is just a month away. Created by Charlie Covell (The end of the f***ing world), the series stars Goldblum in the lead role of Zeus, and the story follows the consequences of Zeus’ decision to imprison Prometheus (Stephen Dillane). On August 29, the first season of the show, consisting of eight episodes, was released on the streamer with the support of Kaos cast including David Thewlis as Hades, Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, Janet McTeer as Hera and Aurora Perrineau as Eurydice aka Riddhi.

Diversity now reports that Kaos was canceled after just over a month of availability on Netflix. Representatives for the streamer have yet to comment on the cancellation, but the decision follows the show spending four weeks in Netflix’s top 10. Despite charting, the show still struggled to break through, peaking at number three on the English language TV chart. in its second week with 5.9 million views.

Perrineau was the first to break the news on social media in a since-deleted Instagram post. Caption her post via Diversityincluded below:

Well… it hurts. It’s very difficult for me to explain how I feel, but I’ll try.

“When I started auditioning for this show, I knew it was special, mainly because Charlie Covell’s scripts resonated with me in a way that most things didn’t. I knew all these people and loved them all—every flaw, everything.

“One of the first times in my life I felt truly proud. I’m certainly proud of everyone’s work and the care they took into this project because let me tell you, they left it all on the floor. But I also found that I was proud of myself, and that’s something I struggled with.

“When I was cast, I couldn’t believe that someone SAW me. A girl who is not only a minority but also a SA survivor – and you’re telling me that someone thinks I can co-host a show, have agency, have my own mission, and be desirable enough to be a love interest not just one amazing person, but two? Was I worthy of this? Everything that happened from that point on really changed my perspective.

“As the journey continued, I began to learn about this absolutely amazing talent – as if Charlie wasn’t enough. Then I learned about our directors, Georgiy [Banks-Davies] and Runyararo [Mapfumo]. This continued with our incredible lineup; There are too many to list, but I have to mention three that became lifelong friends, family, and lifelines as we spent months traveling around Spain: Misia [Butler]Nabhan [Rizwan] and Killian [Scott].

“Our wonderful HMU department, wardrobe department, sister, Netflix, our production team and our entire crew – everyone involved was a heavy hitter. And so I sat and wondered how? Why me? And the answer I often received was: why not you?

“Everyone was brilliant and unique. Every performance surprised and excited me. I can’t believe I had to do this to all of you. We made something weird, dark, funny, crazy and absolutely tragic – something completely human. THIS is the feeling I plan to take with me.

“Thank you for letting me be your Riddhi. I had a great time.”

More to come…
