Dragon Age: The Veilguard – Should you help Minrathous or Treviso?

One of the first major story decisions players will face in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard will have a huge impact on two close companions. As the cities of Minrathous and Treviso are simultaneously attacked by ravaged dragons controlled by the elven gods, players will need to decide which one they will defend. This decision has consequences, as Neve and Lucaris will beg for the player’s help to defend their hometowns – and one will not be happy about not being chosen.

Happening Shortly after players have recruited Davrin, the Gray Warden, there is no opportunity to return to their safe haven in the Lighthouse to take a moment from the fight. Instead, this choice will be something of an ambush that will have to be decided on the spot, making it even more important to really consider the options available. With so much at stake in such an early decision The Veil Guardplayers will want to really consider the consequences of their actions and how it could change the game in the future.

What happens if you help Treviso

Neve will not be happy with this Veilguard decision

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Snow is hardened

As expected, if players decide to save Treviso from the dragon’s attack, Minrathous will be seriously destroyed. Neve, of course, will find this incredibly difficult to deal with, leaving the group to help her friends in town and temporarily removing her as a member of the group until she returns after players recruit the final companions. Many of Neve’s allies in the Shadow Dragons will also be seriously injured, and the Venatori presence in the city will increase.

Players will discover this their relationship with Neve will be damaged as a repercussion, making her “hardened” by the experience. The relationship’s progress will be slower and she will be much more distant as a character when she returns to the Lighthouse. Snow will also drastically change combat in Dragon Age: The Veil Guardwith some increased damage buffs on certain passive skill nodes, but no longer able to use the Replenish healing skill or certain support upgrades for other skills.

What happens if you help Minrathous

Lucaris takes this personally in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Saving Minrathous will cause players to go through a similar sequence to Treviso, now leaving Treviso heavily damaged. As such, Lucaris will be the one who will be unavailable as a companion for a whilebut most importantly, players will also be permanently barred from dating him too. Treviso will be partially destroyed from the damage and its canals destroyed, so players will need to rediscover its fast travel points.

Players will find that Lucaris is now “hardened,” meaning that some of his damaging abilities are now more potent, but he cannot use his healing ability at all. The Antivan Crows quest “A Slow Poison” will also no longer be available for completion, assuming the player has not already done so. With many similarities anyway, the choice between Minrathous and Treviso is usually a matter of personal preference for characters and relationships.

Why you should help Lucaris instead of Neve

A big difference could be the deciding factor

Dragon Age: The Veilguard choosing Minrathous or Treviso

The choice between saving Minrathous or Treviso is one that players will find often depends on their own preferences. Whether you prefer Neve or Lucaris, the deciding factor should be which character they prefer to have as a companion or romance option in The Veil Guard. But there is a key difference between the two that can make either choice more preferable.

While both Neve and Lucaris are permanently changed in combat via decision and are unavailable to the party for a period of time, there is a key factor in choosing one over the other. Since Lucaris will be completely blocked as a romance option if players decide to save Minrathous, many may want to go this route just to keep Neve and Lucaris on side. But ultimately this decision in Dragon Age: The Veil Guard Which city to save from is personal to the player.
