The Bachelor the franchise has had an influx of cast member problems in more recent seasons, and with several contestants went through the casting process with restraining orders against themit seems like the show doesn’t fully care about its cast members. Over the last few seasons of The bachelor, the bachelorette, and The golden maiden, there were competitors who rubbed Bachelor Nation the wrong way. Although there are always competitors who are not interesting to Bachelor Nation because of their stories, they are typically not a danger to others if given the opportunity to be on the show.
With The Bachelorette In season 21’s inviting Devin Strader to the cast to fight for Jenn Tran’s heart with major blemishes on her record, viewers began to become skeptical about what kind of vetting was happening on the show’s cast. Although there have been legal problems with Bachelor stars in the past, seeing a contestant reach the end of a season and have major problems completely ignored until fans discovered them online was shocking. The trend continued into the current season The golden maiden, where two of the guys vying for Joan Vassos’ heart got into legal trouble.
Although there were some major blemishes The Bachelor and its developments in the past, things have gotten worse in recent seasons. While it’s possible that the franchise has simply hidden things better in recent years, the stream of issues with contestants has left many concerned about the safety standards being followed by the show’s casting team. With so many problems in the last few seasons and an abundance of general problems in the series’ history Bachelor producers may not care about their cast enough for the show to go on.
The Bachelorette’s Devin Strader Had a Violent Past
His ex-girlfriend documented his problems
Although The Bachelorette Season 21 was rocky from the start, Jenn’s season was supposed to be a celebration of her as the first Asian American Bachelorette party. Even though Jenn wasn’t the first choice for the season’s lead role, the guys involved seemed happy to meet her and get to know her as things progressed. Jenn was able to get to know the guys from her season and eliminated some of the more problematic guys early on, but some managed to fool her for weeks on end while the show continued to film.
Devin, who was the favorite throughout the season and quickly became a Bachelor Jenn’s villain of the nation, seemingly love bomber, almost immediately made it clear that he was on the show to find love. After going through all Bachelorette party process and accepting a proposal from Jenn, Devin’s past began to make itself known to viewers. After an ex confirmed that Devin had a violent past, it was discovered that he had a restraining order against him for stalking and violent behavior during his college years. Although he eventually apologized, Devin’s behavior spoke for itself and overwhelmed the Bachelor National audience.
Golden Bachelorette’s Gil Ramirez Was Obsessive About An Ex
He wouldn’t leave his ex alone
Although Devin’s past has been a struggle for Bachelor nation to overcome, they were determined to The golden bachelorette the first season lead would have a good run. Hopeful that Bachelor producers learned their lessons from Devin and were sure they would take care of Joan, viewers were eager to meet the guys from The golden bachelorette season 1 cast. Learning more about men, including The Bachelor Mark Anderson, father of season 28 winner Kelsey Anderson, viewers were hopeful about his nature. Unfortunately, it quickly turned out that The golden bacheloretteGil Ramirez has faced previous problems.
Gil, who was eliminated early from the series, presented himself as a kind and funny guy in the first part of the episodes, but he was much more sinister than he seemed. It was revealed that Gil also had a restraining order against him from a recent ex, who shared this in the months leading up to filming the show, Gil was obsessively calling and texting her, trying to get in touch with her to no avail.. Although the ex tried to let Gil know she wasn’t interested, he didn’t stop and she got a restraining order against him.
A Second Golden Bachelorette Restraining Order Has Been Revealed
One of Joan’s finalists has legal problems
After Gil was practically eliminated from the program The golden bachelorette viewers hoped there would be no other surprises in the future. Unfortunately, it turned out that one of Joan’s children Golden Single finalist Guy Gansert has had a temporary protection order filed against him in the past. The order, which was ultimately rejected by Guy’s ex-wife, asked him to only contact her via email about their children and not communicate with her otherwise. Although Guy seemed kind on the series, hearing about his troubling marital problems made it clear Bachelor the producers did not do a thorough background check.
Single producers don’t value the security of their leads
Why are so many troubled men being cast?
Although The Bachelor and its spin-offs obviously do some sort of background check with its competitors, checks are clearly not thorough enough for leads to feel safe more with competitors. After three restraining orders in two seasons, it’s obvious that Bachelor producers aren’t being careful with their leads, and more problematic cast members will come if they don’t act. The producers behind The Bachelorette and The golden bachelorette value the spectacle of the series more than the safety of their cast and need to change things if The Bachelor the franchise will continue to be successful.
