Cast, story and everything we know

The original Max series Gambler is returning for season two and there are already a number of exciting updates about the irreverent comedy. Created by TV expert Chuck Lorre, Gambler concerns Danny, a veteran of the art of sports betting who tries to make a living in the wild and confusing world of Los Angeles. Anchored by a towering performance from stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco in the lead role, Gambler is exactly the kind of short-form comedy series that HBO is known for.

The first season of Gambler was met with near-universal praise from critics, especially Maniscalco’s performance and the chemistry he has with his co-stars (via Rotten tomatoes). While some of the humor was highlighted as being a bit simplistic when compared to the high-concept premise, Lorre’s touch made the show an instant hit, and it’s clear that HBO wants more from the fledgling series. With the first season completed in December 2023, there is already news about the 2nd season of Gambler.

Unlike other streaming shows that often sit in limbo for months while awaiting a renewal request, Gambler Season 2 was officially announced in January 2024, just a few weeks after the first season ended. This vote of confidence from HBO is a good sign for the show’s continued futureand extends a streak of success for producer Chuck Lorre that spans decades.

Although the full release date has not yet been revealed, HBO plans to release the next season in December 2024.
